A Specific of the Salafee Manhaj: Acquiring Foundational Knowledge and Warning Agains t Infractions [3] All praise is due to Allah, and may exaltation and safety be granted to Muhammad , his family, his companions, and those who aid them. To proceed: Shaykh Khaalid ar-Raddaadee, may Allah protect him, wrote: Dont these people understand that refuting someone who has infractions is consider ed to be from the greatest obligatory acts in Islam for the people of knowledge who are qualified to do so? This protects the religion from offenses that will cause change and from the cal amity of distortion. Refuting those who have infractions is a great affair and w eighs heavily on the scales of the esteemed Shareeah (i.e. Islamic law). For this reason, al-Imaam Ibn al-Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, may Allah have mercy on hi m, says in al-Tibyaan li Aqsaam al-Quraan (210): The twelfth type of pen: the complete pen, and it is the pen that refutes those s eeking to establish falsehood, raises the Sunnah for those upon the truth, and e xposes the different types and categories of falsehood. It also clarifies their (i.e. the people of falsehood) contradictions, inconsistencies and their exiting from the truth and entering into falsehood. This type pen -amongst the others- is like the kings amongst the common people. Its people are people who possess proof; they are those who aid that which the M essengers came with, and they are those who are at war with their (i.e. the Mess engers) enemies. They are callers to Allah using wisdom and beautiful admonishments, and they are those who contend, using various methods, against those who have exited from th e path [of the truth]. The possessors of this type of pen are a war against every person upon falsehood , and they are an enemy of every one who opposes the Messengers. Thus, they are in an affair, and other than them from those who possess pens are in [a lesser] affair. Benefits from This Excerpt: 1. Not everyone understands the importance of refuting falsehood; 2. Refutations are to be done by those who are qualified; 3. Refutations play a huge part in the Shareeah; 4. Those who take on the task of refuting falsehood are like kings compared to t he common people; 5. Those who author refutations are a war against and an enemy of the people of

falsehood. A Specific of the Salafee Manhaj: Acquiring Foundational Knowledge and Warning Agains t Infractions [2] Sheikh Khaalid ar-Raddaadee, may Allah protect him, said: They (i.e. the Salafees) are busy with knowledge and calling to Allah upon insigh t, and at the same time, they warn against those who have infractions and agains t those who are against the Salafee Dawah. They clarify their faults and expose w hat they conceal. This is done so that no one will be duped or deceived by them! ! However, there has now appeared an uprising from the people of the Sunnah who ha ve deviated from the straight path. Its masters have began to induced the partic ipants to abstain from warning against the people of innovation, to abstain from critiquing their sayings, and to abstain from exposing them. They say: We have sufficed with seeking knowledge, We clarify, we do not dispute, an d We correct [people], but we do not disparage [them]; and other similar sayings. They are concerned with this silence regarding those who have infractions, and t hey are concerned with not busying themselves with refuting them. They suffice t hemselves with acquiring fundamental knowledge ( ) -as they claim-. And as for he who initiates a refutation, it is obligatory according to them to not specify the person being refuted, to remain far way from blaming him, and ma ny other affairs other than this which entail watering-down [the Salafee methodo logy] and betrayal [of the people of the Sunnah]. It has even reached a point where many of them sit with the people of innovation , cohabit with them, make peace with them, attend their gatherings, participate on their websites, and attend their media functions!! Shaykh Khaalid ar-Raddaadee, may Allah protect him, said: An aspect that distinguishes the Salafees from other than them is that they comb ine between acquiring sound fundamental knowledge and warning against religious infractions. So, the people of Sunnah, who are untainted, give importance to acquiring sound fundamental knowledge and clarifying its principles and guidelines according to the understanding of their Salaf, may Allah be pleased with them. So, it is rarely found; rather, you can say scarcely, that you will find a Salaf ee who has been raised in this school (i.e. Salafiyyah), which is established up on narrations, except that he mentions an issue connected to its proof, and he c larifies how the Salaf understood that proof.
