Does the paper have a thesis? Can you offer a one-sentence explanation or summary of what it is about?

2. AUDIENCE AND PURPOSE

Do you have an audience in mind? What is the paper intended to accomplish? Does the purpose match the assignment?

3. DEVELOPMENT
Are there gaps in evidence or information? Is anything unclear or any points in need of additional support?

4. ORGANIZATION
Does the paper progress in a logical way? Should any part be relocated? Can you improve your transitions?

REVISING YOUR PAPER

5. SENTENCE STRUCTURE
Do you have run-on sentences or fragments? Does your sentence structure help make your meaning clear?

6. WORD CHOICE
Do your words suit your audience and the purpose of your paper? Can you replace complex terms with simple, concrete words?

7. PUNCTUATION
Does your punctuation help or hinder your reader? Do you need to review punctuation rules?

8. SPELLING
Are there are typos or errors that havent been caught by Spell Check?
