Open World Program on Accountable Governance
From February 15 - 23, CIPUSA and affiliate CIP Columbus hosted four delegates to explore how state and local government, City Council, and nonprofit organizations can promote and sustain growth in the community. University Circle, Inc. president Chris Ronayne spoke to the delegates about how philanthropy is changing the plight of the formerly underprivileged district, all without the help of taxes. Chief Valarie McCall of Mayor Frank Jackson's office answered delegate questions about the city's budget and educational funding. She and Ken Kovach also discussed strengthening the Sister City relationship with the delegates. The delegates finished the program in Columbus to gain an understanding of state-level government.
