Visible thinking

Visible Thinking is a flexible and systematic research-based approach to integrate the development of students' thinking with content learning across subject matters. An extensive and adaptable collection of practices, Visible Thinking has a double goal, on the one hand, is to cultivate students thinking skills and dispositions, and on the on the other, to deepen content learning.

Objectives
To deepen content learning. By thinking dispositions, we mean curiosity, concern for truth and understanding, a creative mindset, not just being skilled but also alert to thinking and learning opportunities and eager to take them. Deeper understanding of content Greater motivation for learning Development of learners' thinking and learning abilities. Development of learners' attitudes toward thinking and learning and their alertness to opportunities for thinking and learning (the "dispositional" side of thinking). A shift in classroom culture toward a community of enthusiastically engaged thinkers and learners.

READING STRATEGIES Think Aloud. This is a reading strategy which can be used before reading, during reading and after reading. The skills are: Making questions before reading and in response to the text. Making, confirming and revising predictions based on information in the text. Skilled readers do the following when reading: Use prior knowledge Have a purpose or reason for reading Decode words and meanings Can make connections with the text Can predict Can ask questions Check their understanding. Listening strategies: Students will be able to listen to conversations Ask questions Understanding of concepts and skills. From my own point of view the most important in the visible thinking approach is that the teacher has the opportunity to integrate the development of students' thinking with content learning where students have the ability to get to deeper understanding of the subject and greater motivation for learning, but it is important for the teachers tasks during a learning process. In the visible thinking students and teachers can develop their learning abilities as well as help instructors make the classroom more comfortable so peers can participate and develop their learning attitudes toward thinking and learning according to the contents. In the visible thinking the teacher has the possibility to use the adequate strategies and in some areas for instance listening, speaking, reading and writing to include a lot of activities for the students to participate but not only in the English area but also in others subjects.
