I am delighted to introduce the new Da Vinci Studio
School in Letchworth to students and parents. By
placing the qualities of enterprise and creativity at
the heart of the curriculum the school will equip
young people with the skills, knowledge and thinking
that are so urgently needed in todays society and
are particularly important to the future success of
the UKs vibrant creative industries.
Not only will we be preparing young people for future
work, we will also ensure that all young people engage with professionals
in the creative sectors throughout their time with us. There is a great deal
of support within the wider cultural sector with employers expressing their
enthusiasm for engaging directly in the work of the school through project
work, work experience and placements.
Together our teaching staff and creative professionals will ensure that every

The Studio School will
meet the demands of
organisations in the
locality and regionally for highly skilled production
and backstage personnel that provide the platform
for the advancement in creative industries needed
to sustain the creative and enterprise sector. The
proposed school will add value to the educational
offer in North Hertfordshire and early indications
suggest that pupils and parents are keen to engage
with the new curriculum and the more specialist opportunities it offers.
Working in partnership with the key education stakeholders we expect the
Studio School to promote creative industries as a career for many more
young people in the locality.

At the Da Vinci Studio School of Creative Enterprise we fully recognise that each
student has their own abilities and talents and we aim to nurture these by providing
a high degree of personalisation.
Learning coaches, similar to teachers, will facilitate the delivery of subject content;
they will be supported by a range of visiting creative industry interns. Together this
team will ensure that the skills you develop and the processes you learn are just

As a result, as well as securing extensive subject and vocational knowledge, you

In addition your learning will be supported by a personal coach who will help you
with your studies and who will link together all aspects of school life including
work experience. Your coach will ensure that you keep on track, achieve your full
potential and enjoy your time at the school.
The Studio School day is slightly longer than a traditional school day which is
deliberate as we want to develop a strong work ethic right from the start. You will
bo troatod as an adult and will oall sta by tnoir hrst namo |ust as you would in tno
real world of work.
Equally the length of the school day mirrors that of the work place. You will be
timetabled to attend from 9.00 a.m. to 4.45 p.m. from Monday to Thursday and
from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on a Friday. At the end of each day you will be able to
participate in a range of interesting enrichment activities which are personalised to
meet your interests and which will add breadth to the skills you develop.
Although planned teaching sessions will take place for 38 weeks of the year, the
school itself will be open for coaching for 51 weeks of the year. This means you
can have access to support and to the school facilities outside of your timetabled
activities.
