Question: Write the chapters that are common in research in education Solution: All research reports have some

basic structures and format that enable a reader to know exactly where to find the information he/she is looking for. However, in an educational research, some formats are established for proper comprehension and consideration. A general organizational sequence of the chapters of a typical educational research is given below: CHAPTER ONE: INTRODUCTION The structure of this chapter consists of an introductory paragraph, statement of the problem, purpose of the research, significance of the research and research questions and/or hypotheses. The chapter usually begins with a few introductory paragraphs. The primary goal is to catch the attention of the reader to the subject. It sets the stage for the paper and puts the topic in perspective. The introduction usually contains dramatic and general statements about the need for the study, and uses dramatic illustrations to set the tone. The statement of the problem is the focal point of the research. It is usually one sentence with several paragraphs for elaboration. It serves to present a persuasive argument why the problem is important enough to study. The purpose is also a single statement or paragraph that explains what the research intends to accomplish. The significance section creates a perspective for looking at the problem. It points out how the study relates to the larger issue and uses a persuasive rationale to justify the reason for the study. The scope and limitations of the study are equally enunciated. CHAPTER TWO: LITERATURE REVIEW This chapter reviews literature to show what previous researchers have discovered. Usually quite long, it primarily depend upon how much research

has previously been done on the subject matter under investigation. For the sake of understanding, keyword and important terms are usually clarified under this chapter. CHAPTER THREE: METHODOLOGY This chapter restates purpose and research questions. The population chosen for the study and the sampling technique adopted are spelt out under this chapter. The instrumentation, its validity and reliability are proved herein, and procedure for collation of data from sources. Assumptions made for the sake of flexibility in deductions coupled with the statistical analysis plan are also given under this chapter. CHAPTER FOUR: RESULTS Inferences and other deductions from the analyses of manipulated data are discussed objectively under this chapter. CHAPTER FIVE: CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS This chapter presents a summary of what the researcher has done and what he/she has also realized. It further puts the inferences and deductions from the results in perspective. Based on this conclusion, some recommendations are put forth on how the present study could be further improved upon in the future. The references and appendix sections, though distinct, are not classed as chapters.
