Road to Success in CAT-2013 & Other Exams.

1 .Clarity of basic fundamentals 2. Regular Study but not more than 2 hours/Day because merely studying for 5 to 6 hours wont serve ur purpose and frndz be relax and calm because CAT it is not that difficult to tackle then it seems to be. 3 .Please remove any stereotype from ur mind that might haunts u about ur past academics because these days there is general feeling among candidates that if ur academics are not good then even if u score a perfect 100 percentile, then also u wont get a IIM call , see frndz the most important thing to get it into IIMs is a good score in CAT and if u can score 280 out of 450 in CAT then u r a 99 Percentiler, let me give u an example suppose u are an IIT graduate having 85% marks in B.Tech,95% in 10th and 12th and currently u are working with Google but ur CAT percentile is 95 on the other hand assume that u r an unemployed engineer having only 60 % in 10th & 12th but 99.50 in CAT then tell me who will get a IIM Call, the IIT guy or second person ! Definitely the second guy because CAT score is the perquisite for IIMs during 1st stage shortlist and other things Came later. What I mean to say is Just focus on CAT and leave other things lyk academics , work-ex on God because there are still many equivalent colleges to IIMs for whom what matters is only ur CAT score and here is the List 1.IIM-C 2.IIM-L 3.FMS 4.MDI Gurgaon 5.IIM-Ranchi 6.IIM-Kashipur. 7.IIM-Raipur. 8.IIM-Trichy. 9.IIM-Udaipur. 10.All 7 IITs 11.NITIE and many more. 12.XIBM bhubaneshwar

Study Strategy:
Section 1.Quant and Data Interpretation(DI) For Quant: 1.Purchase the study material of any good coaching institute or if self preparing then Quantam- CAT by Sarvesh Ojha,Arihant Publications. 2.Follow this sequence of study as below Ratio & Proportion>Percentage ,Profit & Loss>Alligations & Mixture>Interests>VennDiagrams>Geometry & Mensuration>no.system(Refer total gadha notes http://totalgadha.com best for number system)>Time & distance>Time & Work>Quadratic Equations>Functions & inequalities >sequence & series(AP,GP etc.)>Trigonometry>Logarithm>coordinate Geometry> others

3.Please complete ur basics by June end .

For DI:
1.Just Purchase Data Interpretation & Logical reasoning book of Arun-sharma from tata-mc graw hill Publications and solve one set of questions which will generally consists of 8 to 10 questions on alternate days and dont take more than 20 minutes to solve, though author has guided the readers on each and every step but try to visualise the graphs and dont use pen or pencil bcoz if u solve the questions by visualising trust me guys that will be of immense help during CAT ,because at the time of actual CAT u wont have that much time to write and solve.

Section 2. Verbal & Logical Reasoning

If u are thinking to avoid grammar then u are planning for self-suicide because there will be three direct questions on grammar in CAT and answering them correctly can give u 22 marks extra which means a direct advantage of 10 percentile in ur CAT score and u can jump from a 90 percentile to 100 percentile, on the other hand grammar helps u in four to five questions in verbal part where options are really very close, trust me guys grammar can be ur saviour in a DO or DIE case when in case ur CAT slot is difficult or ur unable to solve RC passages.

Study Plan:
1.Read wren & martin grammar ,if u read 6-7 pages daily then it wont take more than 40 to 50 days to complete this book. 2.Must read the editorial page of THE HINDU( http://www.thehindu.com/opinion) and any one topic from (www.aldaily.com) on regular basis I think this can be of immense help from RC point of view as well as vocabulary. 3.Dont mug up the words to improve ur vocabulary because that will be of no use and please dont use flashcards ,it will be better for that while u read a passage then please find the meaning of a word that u dont know from some dictionary or directly copy-paste or type in this link directly to get its meaning (http://oald8.oxfordlearnersdictionaries.com/) . 4.Norman lewis book for additional help in Vocabulary.

Logical Reasoning

1.Just refer part-2 of the Arun Sharma book as mentioned in DI Part and solve one case -let regularly that will be more than sufficient.

Finally dont forget to Join a Good test series ,in my view TIME or CL is good for CAT.

Remember:Nothing is impossible ,by dedication & hard work u can find GOD then what the hell is an exam lyk CAT.
