JIM 101 & JIM 201 Cards.

JIM cards have been designed to reduce the variance in MASIBUS Isolators, as far as Single-Input-Single-Output (SISO) types are concerned. Various types of SISO MASIBUS Isolators, which are in use at present, are 0-20 mA / 4-20 mA 4-20 mA / 0-20 mA 4-20 mA / 4-20 mA 0-10 V / 0-20 mA 0-10 V / 4-20 mA

and

With JIM cards, only 0-10 V / 0-20 mA Isolators will be needed. JIM consists of 2 cards in piggyback connection. 2-Cards are JIM 101 & JIM 201. JIM can handle following inputs 0-20 mA 4-20 mA 0-10 V 2-10 V 0-5 V and 1-5 V JIM can bring out following outputs 0-10 V and 2-10 V 0-10 V output will be used for obtaining 0-20 mA output from MASIBUS Isolator, while 2-10 V output will be used for 4-20 mA output from MASIBUS Isolator. From the above inputs and outputs it is evident that JIM deals with 12 combinations. JIM cards have 4 sets of Jumpers W1, W2, W3 and W4 and 3 potentiometers P1, P2 and P3. Jumper W1 handles different types of inputs. For current input, 1-2 will be open and 3-4 will be shorted. For voltage input 1-2 will be shorted and 3-4 will be open. 5-6 of W1 will be shorted for current input and open for voltage input. 7-8 of W1 will be shorted for both current input and 0-10 V or 2-10 V inputs and open for 0-5V or 1-5 V input. 9-10 of W1 will be opposite of 7-8 of W1. Similarly 11-12 of W1 will be opposite of 5-6 of W1. 2-3 of W2 will be shorted for inputs with lifted zero, i.e. 4-20 mA, 2-10 V and 1-5 V. Otherwise 1-2 of W2 will be shorted. 1-2 of W3 will be shorted when lifted zero output is required, i.e. 2-10 V. For 0-10 V output, 2-3 of W3 will be shorted. A table is provided, where 12 combinations of Inputs and Outputs have been shown with Jumper positions for W1, W2, W3 and W4. Procedure of setting up is given below:

1. 0-20 mA / 0-10 V a) b) c) d) e) Set jumpers as per table. Insert 0 mA input. Trim P2 to make x1/1 0V. Insert 20 mA input. Trim P1 to make x1/1 10 V

2. 4-20 mA / 0-10 V a) b) c) d) e) Set jumpers as per table. Insert 4 mA input. Trim P2 to make x1/1 0 Volt. Insert 20 mA input. Trim P1 to make x1/1 10 Volts.

3. 0-20 mA / 2 to 10 V a) b) c) d) e) f) Set jumpers as per table. Insert 0 mA input. Trim P2 to make x3/1 0 Volt. Trim P3 to make x1/1 2 Volts or connected MASIBUS Isolator output 4 mA. Insert 20 mA. Trim P1 to make x1/1 10 Volts or connected MASIBUS Isolator output 20 mA.

4. 4-20 mA / 2-10 V a) b) c) d) e) f) Set the jumpers as per table. Insert 4 mA input. Trim P2 to make x3/1 0 Volt. Trim P3 to make x1/1 2 Volts or connected MASIBUS Isolator output 4 mA. Insert 20 mA. Trim P1 to make x1/1 10 Volts or connected MASIBUS Isolator output 20 mA.
