KES MistWise Reverse Osmosis - Troubleshooting & Maintenance

Problem Solution
Power LED light is OFF Make sure that the LED is not burned out. Check the 115 vac primary voltage going into the 24 volt transformer. If primary voltage is good, check the secondary voltage coming out of the 24 volt transformer. If thats good, make sure the 4 amp breaker located to the right of the ON/OFF switch is good. If secondary voltage is bad, replace transformer. The pump should turn off when it reaches approx. 60 to 70 psi of product pressure. If product pressure is significantly above this, check the pressure switch. Remember, each time you turn the unit "OFF" and "ON": A) A 1-2 minute backwash cycle will run before RO starts its normal running mode. B) If product pressure will not reach its 65-70 psi cut-off point, check the pre-filters to make sure theyre not clogged. The membrane may need changing (clogged membranes will produce little to no product water). The unloader on the pump may be set too low.

Problem
Unit cycles on and off continuously every few seconds.

Solution
If supplying a pressure tank, air pressure may be lost from the tank. To check air pressure, all water must be removed from the tank. If a leak causes air to be lost then the tank will need to be replaced. A) This will not harm the system. B) Take off the check valve on the blue 1/4 product line, tap them on a hard surface. This will reposition the seat in the check valve. Replace with the arrow going in proper position. If the problem persist, call technical support.

Pump never turns "off".

RO pump won't turn on.

Check if the Pump LED is "ON.". If the pump LED is not "ON", check the product pressure gauge. If the pressure is between approx. 50 and 70 psi , the pump should not be running and the LED should not be "ON". If Pump LED is "ON be sure that the Pump is receiving 24 volt power. Remember, when first turning the RO "ON" the unit goes through a flush cycle and the pump is inoperative for approx. 1-2 minutes. Using a volt meter with the unit on, make sure theres 24 volts on the #5 pin on the timer module. If so, check for 24 volts at the electrical pigtail coming out of the pump. If power is there, replace the pump.

Product TDS To lower TDS readings for product water, make sure the is too high. brine drain (waste water in yellow tube) is flowing, adjust unloader on pump so pump pressure can achieve 90 psi, or replace the Membrane. A) Membranes need changing B) The backwash solenoid may be malfunctioning. C) Make sure the water is flowing freely through yellow brine drain line (the yellow brine drain and the blue product flows should be about equal.

Back flush LED "OFF".

Check that the backwash LED is not burned out. Check transformer connections and wall outlet voltage. Check for 24 volts at the unit side of the transformer. If no 24 volts ,replace the transformer. If everything is OK above, replace the timer module.

1) Replace pre-filter kit (part # GG-2568ZR) once every six months or more often if local water conditions dictate. 2) Change membrane(s) once every two years or more often if local water conditions dictate. 3) When changing membrane, make sure O-ring of new membrane is in the same position as previous membrane. 4) Take inlet, brine & product TDS readings to ensure unit is working properly. 5) Make sure pump pressure does not exceed 90 psi. 6) Check to make sure no leaks exist. 7) Make sure pump shuts off from time to time and is allowed to rest.
