UPDATE GCF-ARCHIVES

Instructions for updating assemblies, games and tools.


I. Preparation and updating files the cache.
1) First start menu Source SDK program CF Toolbox - Manager to work with the cache files (alternative to Steam). Note that the program is very slow, so even if it is a long time does not respond - are urged to wait. 2) The first time you need to specify a directory cache files (the folder SteamApps). Attention: To work with the cache to your Internet connection without a proxy!

3) On the first tab of the program - "GCF / NCF Files" a list of cache files in the specified folder.

If you are sure that you have all the necessary cash to play (more on this will be written in section III), and the column "Completion" all the files to 100% - you can play / MAPP. In that case, the file downloaded is not 100% (or date), it is first necessary to continue downloading (or update and continuedownloading), and only then attempt to upgrade content and then to the mapping / game.

So if next to the name of the cache file in the column "Completion" is the inscription "Outdated" ("old") and / or the file is not completely downloaded, follow these steps: a) Open the tab "Preferences". - In the column "Account", enter your account information Steam. If you do not have an account, or on your account have a decent amount of licensed content, then for security would be wiser to Steam'e create a new, empty account and enter it in this box. These "Steam Guard" to be completed only if it is enabled on your account to Steam; otherwise, leave it blank. Check the box "Remember my password" and click "Set". Be careful when entering a login - program case sensitive, and if the differences relative to the original spelling login to Steam, download files may not work! - In the column "Folders" folder, specify: the first line ("GCF / NCF") - the directory with your files cache (it should already be listed on the first run), the second ("Output") - derived from the directory of your actions files ( hereinafter referred to as "Output"). Usually this is the same folder as for "GCF / NCF".Column "Steam apps language" set the Russian language ("Russian"). Column "Logs level" is desirable to set the level of "Error "(ask operation will fail.) - In Column "Misc" Put all boxes but "Pre-validate files before archive / update / download", "Sharing the Steam steamapps folder" and "Disable Install new apps tab". Perhaps then need to restart the program. 4

b) On the "GCF / NCF Files" pane, right-click the name of outdated cache file -> Patches -> Make archive, to create a file with information on the file cache. 5

This action in the directory "Output" will be created info-file format <_ name of the cache file>. < _versii>. Archive (Eg, half-life 2 content.8.archive).

d) Update the cache file (right-click on the name of the cache file -> Download -> Resume). 8

When the file is downloaded by 100%, draw it validates (click on the file name, right-click -> Validate). 9

If the file has passed validation (in the column "Information" sign appears "File is valid"), then click by file name, right-click -> Patches -> Make update. 12

In the window that appears, enter you previously created file with the information on the file cache.

In the event a file is invalid (in column "Information" sign appears "Validation failed"), click the name of the cache file, right-click -> Correct. 14

After adjustment of the cache file in the column "Information" appears "File has been corrected ...". Then again, repeat step "g". e) As a result of activities performed in the directory "Output" file appears 2 content.8_to_9.gcf). Note: If the file was just under-inflated (ie, its version is not changed), then < _staroy_versii> and < _novoy_versii> match.

This GCF-file - this is the Windows software update that contains only those files that have changed (updated). The rest of the files in it have a size of 0 bytes. This GCF-files (file-update) is required for the actions listed below.

II. Update files, which are in the extracted form.


a) After the above operations with GCF-file is complete, go to the folder engine used games (such as "Source Engine 2009"). b) Run Content Updater.exe. In the window that appears, confirm that your cache is completely updated, click "Yes" and wait for the end of the process (2 0 sec - 1.5 min). If you are not sure that all of your GCF-files updated to 100%, then the pop-up confirmation window, click "No", and then do the procedure from Section I. When the operation is recommended that you view the resulting Log-file. If it contained information about the error, fix the error and run the update again.

III. Download GCF files by CF Toolbox.


After installation Source SDK, or configuring the emulator, the program will automatically scan available in the specified folder GCF-cache, and display the information about the games that are available for a given set of GCF-files and folders in the presence of the game (with the file GameInfo.txt) in the root of the corresponding her engine. Also, in addition, you can call this game check out the menu "SDK Configurator'a" (set to "check the availability of the Games"). If you find that the game is not desired in the resulting list, do the following: a) Make sure that in your engine running the game, there is a folder and file name of the game "GameInfo.txt" (folder may also include other resources). If the folder does not exist, create it by hand, and the program "GCFScape", or "HLExtract.exe", remove it from the key for the game GCFcache (see note below), the file "GameInfo.txt" (and, if necessary editing as folders "Cfg", "Resource", "Scripts" and files "Detail.vbsp" and "Lights.rad" if available). b) Make sure you have everything you need for this game cache, and in the absence of some files of it, you hit the missing GCF-files, which will be written in detail in this section. Most of the necessary mappings for you in games and engines can be downloaded directly through the program CF Toolbox. To do this, follow these steps (in paragraph 1 ", select one of the most convenient for you): 1) Method A: Run the program (make sure the program is set up in full, in accordance with paragraph 3 of Section I) and go to the tab Games / Media / Tools. In the list, select the game you want to download, and then Rightclick on the name of the game -> Properties. In the Properties window, you will see a list of allGCFfiles needed this game. If the graph Completion all or individual files are marked

as "Not Downloaded", this means that the cache is not yet loaded. To download the missing cache, do the steps described below in paragraph 2.

1) Option B: Find your game in the GCF-caches in paragraph 3 of this section (see below). If any of GCF-files are missing in your cache folder, then do the steps described below in paragraph 2. 2) Next, go to the tab Install in CF Toolbox. Under "GCF / NCF Files" GCF-click the missing files and click [Download the selected GCF / NCF files]. The program may hang for a while - this is normal (pre-cache is selected files), so do not complete its work and wait for the process.

Warning: If you try to download the necessary files the message "File not available or not owned: <filename>. Gcf", or nothing happens (in this case, in the tab "Logs" messages like "Error retrieving tickets for: <appid fayla> ' or "not owned app ..."), then it means that the file can not download via CF Toolbox, or through Steam Hacked by reason of file protection on servers Steam. In such cases, the problematic GCFfiles you need to download the manual alternative, unofficial sources (references to which are given below). 3) Below is a list of GCF-files required of a game, mod or engine. Green - Marked files available for downloading through the CF Toolbox or Cracked Steam. Blue - protected files that have to be downloaded separately. Underlined highlights the key to the game files (some of the content to be learned in the absence of a folder, as was explained above in paragraph 'a').

IV. Download GCF files from external sources.

V. Update files must not download means CF Toolbox or Cracked Steam.


1) If the upgrade of a cache error occurs (Post Download Error in CF Toolbox or "Steam Server too busy" in Cracked Steam), then you have to find or request the latest patches, updates (ie ie, files for their archives for subsequent updates. To do this go on one of these links (data current at 12.05.2012) and find the required version of the update (or send a request to update, giving *. archive - a file containing information about your older version cache): a) CS.RIN.RU (recommended): http://rinru.us.to/ (registration required); b) CSmania.RU: http://forum.csmania.ru/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=18105 . 2) After unzipping the downloaded patches, do the update outdated GCF-cache data file as described in paragraph 3 (b, c) of Section I - but this time, instead of updating the file over the Internet, right-click on the name of obsolete file -> Patches -> Apply Update. In the resulting window, select the patch you downloaded, and then wait for the update process (ie, as long as the percentage of completion reaches 100%), and then perform the validation of the updated file (see 3.g. Section I).
