And

remember when Allah will say (on the Day of Resurrection): "O 'Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)! Did you say unto men: 'Worship me and my mother as two Allahs besides Allah?' " He will say: "Glory be to You! It was not for me to say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, You would surely have known it. You know what is in my inner self though I do not know what is in Yours, truly, You, only You, are the All-Knower of all that is hidden and unseen (5:116). Universal Agreement All of the nations are in agreement that Allah alone is the One who created this universe with its heavens and earth, as well as everything that lies between them and within them, such as the angels, jinn, and mankind. And they acknowledge that He is the One who governs and administers this universe, and that everything in existence is subjected to His Will and Power, but yet in spite of this, He maintains it with Gentleness, Mercy, and Wisdom. He has entrusted every sane adult with worshipping Him and obeying His commands. And it is for this reason that He created them, as He says: And I did not crate mankind or the jinn except to worship Me. I do not seek any provision from them nor do I ask that they should feed Me. Verily, Allah is the All-Knower, Owner of Power, and the Most Strong (51:56-58). The Messengers of Strong Will And He sent them noble messengers every time the Devil and his helpers diverted them away from the objective for which they were created, such as towards polytheism, the worship of him (i.e. the Devil), and the abandonment of Allahs Straight path. At the head of these noble messengers were those who possessed strong will and determination, and they were: Muhammad, Abraham (Ibrahim), Musa (Muses), Iesa (Jesus) and Nuh, may Allahs peace and blessings be upon them. Allah says: He has ordained for you the same religion that He ordained for Noah and which We revealed to you (O Muhammad) and ordained for Abraham, Moses, and Jesus that you should establish the Religion and make no divisions in it. Intolerable for the polytheists is that which you call them to. Allah choose for Himself whom He wills and guides unto Himself those who turn to Him in repentance and obedience (42:13).

So all of the messengers especially those who were mentioned above their religion was one, and it was Islam; there being no religion besides it that they ascribed to. Allah says: Verily the only Religion acceptable in the sight of Allah is Islam (3:19). Status of Jesus in Islam After having made this introduction, our objective here is to clarify and explain the condition of the noble messenger of Allah, Jesus, son of Mary, and his status in Islam. This honorable prophet holds a great position in Islam, which the Jews and Christians are either unaware of or purposely neglect in their daily lives, beliefs, and writings. Islam has substantiated his great role, which has been confirmed in the best, most complete and just of manners in several clear verses of the Quraan. Every pure and uncorrupt intellect should not accept anything except that which Islam has affirmed for this Prophet, whilst rejecting everything that contradicts that, such as what the Jews affirm from slander against him and his mother, and what the Christian affirm from exaggerating about him and his mother, and what the Christians affirm from exaggerating about him and deifying him at times by considering him to be the son of God or God (Himself) or part of a divine trinity, and at times by debasing and mutilating him (i.e. on the Cross), all of which indicates misguidance and deviation in the religion and mind. Allah has related to us the best and most marvelous of stories concerning Jesus and his mother, from the beginning of their ordeal going through the various stages of their lives, clarifying it in depth. So the believers from among the followers of Muhammad believed in all of this and gave Jesus and his mother the status they deserved and welcomed them with the highest level of honor. In the same manner, they welcomed all of the other prophets and messengers and believed in them. In fact, Islam has established believing in them as being one of the major pillars of faith. And furthermore, it holds that whoever belittles any of the prophets in any manner, has committed disbelief and leaves from the fold of Islam.

Jesus & His Mother in the Quraan

Allah relates in the Quraan in Surah Maryam (19:16- 38): {And mention in the Book (the Quraan) the story of Maryam, when she withdrew in seclusion from her family to a place facing east. She placed a screen (to screen herself) from them; then We sent to her Our Ruh (angel Gabriel), and he appeared before her in the form of a man in all respects. She said: "Verily, I seek refuge with the Most Gracious (Allah) from you, if you do fear Allah." The angel said: "I am only a messenger from your Lord, to announce to you the gift of a righteous son." She said: "How can I have a son, when no man has touched me, nor am I unchaste?" He said: "So (it will be), your Lord said: 'That is easy for Me (Allah). And We wish to appoint him as a sign to mankind and a mercy from Us (Allah), and it is a matter already decreed by Allah.' So she conceived him, and she withdrew with him to a far place (i.e. Bethlehem valley about 4-6 miles from Jerusalem). And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a date palm. She said: "Would that I had died before this, and had been forgotten and out of sight!" Then (the babe Jesus or Gabriel) cried to her from below her, saying: "Grieve not: your Lord has provided a water stream under you. "And shake the trunk of the date palm towards you, it will let fall fresh ripe dates upon you." "So eat and drink and be glad. And if you see any human being, say: 'Verily, I have vowed a fast to the Most Gracious so I shall not speak to any human being this day."' Then she brought him (the baby) to her people, carrying him. They said: "O Maryam! Indeed you have brought a thing a mighty thing. "O sister (i.e. the like) of Harun! Your father was not a man who used to commit adultery, nor your mother was an unchaste woman." Then she pointed to him. They said: "How can we talk to one who is a child in the cradle?" He (Jesus) said: "Verily, I am a slave of Allah, He has given me the Scripture and made me a Prophet;" "And He has made me blessed wheresoever I be, and has enjoined on me prayer and obligatory charity, as long as I live." "And dutiful to my mother, and made me not arrogant, unblest. "And peace be upon me the day I was born, and the day I die, and the day I shall be raised alive!" Such is Jesus, son of Maryam. It is a statement of truth about which they

doubt (or dispute). It befits not (the Majesty of) Allah that He should beget a son (this refers to the slander of Christians against Allah, by saying that Jesus is the son of Allah). Glorified and Exalted is He above all that they associate with Him. When He decrees a thing, He only says to it: "Be!" and it is. (Jesus) said: "And verily, Allah is my Lord and your Lord. So worship Him Alone. That is a Straight Path. (Allah's religion of Islamic Monotheism which He did ordain for all of His Prophets)." Then the sects differed (i.e. the Christians about Jesus) so woe to the disbelievers (those who gave false witness by saying that Jesus is the son of Allah) from the Meeting of a great Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection, when they will be thrown in the blazing Fire). How clearly will they (polytheists and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah) see and hear, the Day when they will appear before Us! But the polytheists and wrong doers today are in plain error.} Falsehood of Trinity Verily, the likeness of Jesus before Allah is the likeness of Adam. He created him from dust, then (He) said to him: "Be!" and he was (3:59). O people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say of Allah aught but the truth. The Messiah Jesus, son of Maryam, was no more than a Messenger of Allah and His Word, ("Be!" - and he was) which He bestowed on Maryam and a spirit (Ruh) created by Him; so believe in Allah and His Messengers. Say not: "Three (trinity)!" Cease! It is better for you. For Allah is the only One God, Glory be to Him. Far Exalted is He above having a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. And Allah is All-Sufficient as a Disposer of affairs (4:171). Surely, disbelievers are those who said: "Allah is the third of the three (in a trinity)." But there is no god (none who has the right to be worshipped) but One God. And if they cease not from what they say, verily, a painful torment will befall the disbelievers among them (5:73). Jesus Did Not Die & Will Return And they (disbelievers) plotted to kill Jesus, and Allah planned too. And Allah is the Best of those who plan. And remember when Allah said: "O Jesus! I will make

you sleep and raise you to Myself and clear you of the forged statement that Jesus is Allah's son of those who disbelieve, and I will make those who follow you (monotheists, who worship none but Allah) superior to those who disbelieve in the Oneness of Allah, or disbelieve in some of His Messengers, (e.g. Muhammad), Jesus, Moses, or in His Holy Books, (e.g. the Torah, the Gospel, the Quraan) till the Day of Resurrection. Then you will return to Me and I will judge between you in the matters in which you used to dispute" (3:54-55). Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu narrated, Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhe wa sallam said, By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, surely Jesus, the son of Maryam will shortly descend amongst you (Muslims), and will judge mankind justly by the law of the Quraan as a just ruler; he will break the Cross and kill the pigs and there will be no Jizyah (i.e. taxation taken from non-Muslims). Money will be in abundance so that nobody will accept it, and a single prostration to Allah in prayer will be better than the whole world and whatever is in it." Abu Hurairah added: "If you wish, you can recite (this Verse of the Quraan): "And there is none of the people of the Scripture (Jews and Christians) but must believe in him (Jesus) as a Messenger of Allah and a human being before his (Jesus or a Jew's or a Christian's) death, and on the Day of Resurrection, he (Jesus) will be a witness against them" (Sahih Al-Bukhari).
