NDER Overview
The NDER (Network Design & Engineering Requirements) is an MS-Excel based questionnaire used to collect data on: Topology of the Network Market-specific UMTS parameters that need to be provisioned in the various Network Elements The NDER is completed by the Cingular Market teams involved in the planning, design, integration, provisioning and operations of the new UMTS equipment (& market) The completed questionnaire acts as one of the key inputs for the Lucent Network Design engineers working on the design for that specific market

Getting started with the Detailed Design

The following items have to be available to START the design activity:
9 Finalized High Level Arch (i.e. Network Architecture Diagram including all ATM/IP connectivity, locations etc) 9 Final Node B list, Lat/Long 9 Node B to RNC Homing 9 IP address ranges 9 Slot/Row/Port terminations on ATM transport equipment for all ATM connections, + IMA Group Id for OC3/IMA connections (not collected via NDER) 9 Physical Connectivity tables

Detailed Design Outputs

- The Detailed Network Design provides the UMTS network design and provisioning output in a deliverable called the Customer Network Design Document (CNDD)
Includes the Network Database Provisioning (NDP)

output/templates attached in the Appendix section

NDER: Physical Connectivity

- This tab asks for a few details about the T1 and
OC3/OC3c facilities used in the market
- Weve provided the default applicable values in the Comments column

- The Physical Connectivity excel file is a separate file

that has to be completed by Lucent and Cingular
Required before start of Installation
Must specify patch panel assignments from each port/slot across the various NEs

More on the Physical Connectivity file..

One file per MTSO Lucent populates:
- Traffic Type - Element Id - Slot, Port, Type, Connector,
Active/Protect/Standby

Cingular provides:
- Cingular equip side of the LGX, RJ45,
DSX patch panel and/or DACS assignments - Cingular Element Id - Slot, Port #
