Assemble and Configure AN-80i

Unpack the AN-80i and connect all components according to the Quick Test wiring diagrams on page 3. Do not power-on the AN-80i unit at this time. PoE Caution -- Warning to Service Personnel: 48 VDC Customer equipment including personal computers, routers, etc., must be connected only to the INPUT (DATA) port on the PoE unit. Only the outdoors Ethernet interface cable connecting to the AN-80i can be safely connected to the OUTPUT (DATA & POWER) connector. Connecting customer premises Ethernet equipment directly to the OUTPUT (DATA & POWER) connector on the Power-over-Ethernet power adapter may damage customer equipment.

Configure AN-80i Systems

1. Enter the AN-80i Options Key

a) Use an Ethernet cable to connect the PC #1 (192.168.25.22) to the INPUT port of the PoE power adapter. b) Power-on the AN-80i by connecting AC power to the PoE power adapter. c) On the PC, open a browser and enter the default IP address (192.168.25.2). Login to the AN-80i using the factory defaults: Username: admin Password: admin d) Click Product Options in the left hand menu of the Web screen and enter the options key for the this AN-80i unit. Every options key is unique to the MAC address of an AN-80i and keys cannot be reused. Option keys are provided by your local Redline equipment supplier. The options key enables AN-80i features including the maximum Uncoded Burst Rate (UBR) and frequency ranges (region codes). Without the options key, only very limited operation is possible (restricted power, UBR, and frequency selection).

Figure 3: Configuration - Options Key Important: If an AN-80i is placed in-service without first entering a purchased permanent Options Key -- the wireless link will experience a service outage.
2. Configure the AN-80i

For each link, one AN-80i unit must be designated as 'PTP Master' and the second unit as 'PTP Slave'. When powered-on, the PTP Master will actively transmit to establish a link with the (passive) PTP Slave. Click Configure System in the left hand menu of the Web screen and make the recommended settings for each AN-80i. It is recommended to first configure the PTP Slave.

Installation Guidelines
Verify Free Channel (Spectrum Sweep)

It is recommended to check that the planned RF channel is available at the deployment site. A spectrum sweep must be performed from both ends of the link. When performing a sweep from the PTP Slave, the PTP Master must be powered-off or have the transmitter disabled. The PTP Slave will remain passive during a spectrum sweep from the PTP Master. a) Login to the AN-80i Web interface and click Spectrum Sweep in the left hand menu. b) Enter the Start Frequency, End Frequency, and Step (multiple of 2.5 MHz) for the spectrum to be scanned. Set the No of Acquisitions to '10' and click the Start button to begin the scan. c) After reviewing the results, enter a narrower frequency scan and higher sample value to monitor a potentially clear channel. d) Repeat the spectrum sweep from the remote-end AN-80i. Note: It is also recommended to use the Redline RF Monitoring Tool. This PC-based application continuously polls both ends of a wireless link and graphs the RSSI and SINADR values in real time. Contact your Redline sales representative to obtain this useful deployment and troubleshooting tool. 2. Align Antennas a) Align each antenna in azimuth and elevation plane. Verify that RSSI values at the base station and subscriber match your link budget predictions. If the RSSI is not within 5 dB of the expected value, recheck the antenna alignment and ensure there are no obstructions in the RF path. Record RSSI/CINR as reference values. b) If desired, you can enable the antenna alignment buzzer. This feature provides an audible signal of the received signal strength (stronger signal->faster repetitions). Click Configure System in the left hand menu of the Web screen and make the following setting: Antenna Alignment Buzzer Enable: (Enabled) The buzzer remains active until disabled by the operator. 3. Connect AN-80i to the Network Make all necessary changes to the AN-80i subscriber station configuration before connecting to the network. Use a CAT-5 Ethernet cable to connect the data network to the Data In port on the PoE power adapter. Refer to the AN-80i User Manual and AN-80i Installation Guidelines manual for further details.
