damage. Do not overload wall outlets. Protect equipment by disconnecting power when not in use. 2. Do not place PoE power adaptor on or near a direct heat source or operate near water or in a wet location. Disconnect the PoE power before cleaning and use only a damp cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. 3. The AN-80i unit must not be located near power lines or other electrical power circuits. 4. The AN-80i must be properly grounded to protect against power surges and accumulated static electricity. It is the user's responsibility to install this device in accordance with the local electrical codes and building codes: grounding of the transceiver unit, mast, lead-in wire and discharge unit, location of discharge unit, size of grounding conductors and connection requirements for grounding electrodes.

Installation Guidelines
Test Overview
This Quick Install Guide provides steps for basic configuration and operational testing of an AN-80i PTP link. This procedure assumes a setup consisting of two complete AN-80i units. Refer to the AN-80i User Manual and Installation Guidelines for additional safety instructions and for specific operational and installation details.

7. Redline does not endorse testing indoors with antennas. The operation of antennas in
close proximity results in poor connectivity due to high RF multipath effect and RF saturation may damage equipment. Indoor testing may require the use of an RF chamber. When performing indoor testing the RF outputs from each AN-80i can be connected together through a static/variable attenuator. Refer to the connection diagrams on the following page.

1. PC#1: Use a crossover CAT-5 Ethernet cable to connect PC#1 to the PoE Data In port
on the AN-80i. Equipped with a Web browser (requires Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher), and Ethernet port for connection to AN-80i (PTP Slave). The IP address/subnet mask must be set for the same subnet as the AN-80i. Recommended IP settings are: IP address = 192.168.25.22, Net Mask = 255.255.255.0 2. PC#2: Use a crossover CAT-5 Ethernet cable to connect PC#2 to the PoE Data In port on the AN-80i. Equipped with a Web browser and Ethernet port for connection to AN-80i (PTP Master). The IP address/subnet mask must be set for the same subnet as the AN80i. Recommended IP settings are: IP address = 192.168.25.23, Net Mask = 255.255.255.0

Installation Guidelines
a) Use an Ethernet cable to connect the PC #1 (192.168.25.22) to the INPUT port of the PoE power adapter. b) Power-on the AN-80i by connecting AC power to the PoE power adapter. c) On the PC, open a browser and enter the default IP address (192.168.25.2). Login to the AN-80i using the factory defaults: Username: admin Password: admin d) Click Product Options in the left hand menu of the Web screen and enter the options key for the this AN-80i unit. Every options key is unique to the MAC address of an AN-80i and keys cannot be reused. Option keys are provided by your local Redline equipment supplier. The options key enables AN-80i features including the maximum Uncoded Burst Rate (UBR) and frequency ranges (region codes). Without the options key, only very limited operation is possible (restricted power, UBR, and frequency selection).
Figure 3: Configuration - Options Key Important: If an AN-80i is placed in-service without first entering a purchased permanent Options Key -- the wireless link will experience a service outage.
2. Configure the AN-80i
For each link, one AN-80i unit must be designated as 'PTP Master' and the second unit as 'PTP Slave'. When powered-on, the PTP Master will actively transmit to establish a link with the (passive) PTP Slave. Click Configure System in the left hand menu of the Web screen and make the recommended settings for each AN-80i. It is recommended to first configure the PTP Slave.

Table 2: Web - Recommended Settings
Setting IP Address RF Freq. (MHz) ATPC Enable Adaptive Modulation System Mode Encryption Type Link Length Measurement Mode Radio Enable PTP Slave 192.168.25.2 Must match Master RF setting (Disabled) (Enabled) PTP Slave None Automatic (Enabled) PTP Master 192.168.25.3 Set RF according to network design (Disabled) (Enabled) PTP Master None Automatic (Enabled)
After making these settings, click Save at the bottom of the configuration screen. If the IP address was changed, you must change the address entered in the Web browser to match the new AN-80i IP address. Repeat steps 1 & 2 to configure the PTP Master AN-80i using the second test PC (192.168.25.23) if available. If only one PC is used, move the PC#1 Ethernet connection to the second PoE power adapter.
3. Test the Wireless Connection
The AN-80i units should now be operating on the same RF channel and will automatically negotiate a wireless connection. Use the following steps to verify connectivity: a) From PC #2, enter the IP address of the PTP Slave AN-80i (192.168.25.2) into the Web browser and login to the AN-80i unit. b) On PC #2, open a command line window and use the following command to send a ping message to PC#1 (192.168.25.22) over the wireless interface. ping 192.168.25.22 You should observe a result similar to the following: Reply from 192.168.25.22: bytes=32 time=1ms TTL=63
Install AN-80i
Install the AN-80i, mounting bracket, and antenna. The maximum length of the Ethernet cable is 100 m (328 ft). For example, 98 m from the AN-80i to the PoE, and then 2 m from the PoE to the network equipment connection. Important: Ethernet Plug Must 'Click' into Socket When inserting the RJ-45 plug, you should hear an audible 'click' from the plastic locking mechanism. Ensure the connector is locked before sealing and weatherproofing the AN-80i. Do not use cables where this locking mechanism is broken or has been removed! Always follow local and national electrical and building codes for grounding and safety. If you have determined that it is appropriate to install lightning protection for your system, refer to the AN-80i Installation Guidelines manual for additional information.

Verify Free Channel (Spectrum Sweep)
It is recommended to check that the planned RF channel is available at the deployment site. A spectrum sweep must be performed from both ends of the link. When performing a sweep from the PTP Slave, the PTP Master must be powered-off or have the transmitter disabled. The PTP Slave will remain passive during a spectrum sweep from the PTP Master. a) Login to the AN-80i Web interface and click Spectrum Sweep in the left hand menu. b) Enter the Start Frequency, End Frequency, and Step (multiple of 2.5 MHz) for the spectrum to be scanned. Set the No of Acquisitions to '10' and click the Start button to begin the scan. c) After reviewing the results, enter a narrower frequency scan and higher sample value to monitor a potentially clear channel. d) Repeat the spectrum sweep from the remote-end AN-80i. Note: It is also recommended to use the Redline RF Monitoring Tool. This PC-based application continuously polls both ends of a wireless link and graphs the RSSI and SINADR values in real time. Contact your Redline sales representative to obtain this useful deployment and troubleshooting tool. 2. Align Antennas a) Align each antenna in azimuth and elevation plane. Verify that RSSI values at the base station and subscriber match your link budget predictions. If the RSSI is not within 5 dB of the expected value, recheck the antenna alignment and ensure there are no obstructions in the RF path. Record RSSI/CINR as reference values. b) If desired, you can enable the antenna alignment buzzer. This feature provides an audible signal of the received signal strength (stronger signal->faster repetitions). Click Configure System in the left hand menu of the Web screen and make the following setting: Antenna Alignment Buzzer Enable: (Enabled) The buzzer remains active until disabled by the operator. 3. Connect AN-80i to the Network Make all necessary changes to the AN-80i subscriber station configuration before connecting to the network. Use a CAT-5 Ethernet cable to connect the data network to the Data In port on the PoE power adapter. Refer to the AN-80i User Manual and AN-80i Installation Guidelines manual for further details.
