TeleFitness educators in the world, will offer a certifi-
cation workshop in primary group exercise from 8

USASMA’s first match was against the
consistently impressive German Air Force
squad, who, despite a Herculean effort, endured
a two-set loss against their motivated oppo-
nents.
Despite having only six available players –
which allowed for no substitutions through-
out both of the matches – the USASMA
lineup showed relentless hustle, whether
hurtling monster spikes from the front
line, or protecting rear court with accu-
rate bumps and digs. The team worked
fantastically as a whole, but key
attackers like Rich Adams, Mario
Bagric and Scott Uini helped ensure
crucial from-the-net points were never in
short supply.
“We just displayed a lot of good team-
work tonight,” said Uini, USASMA’s
coach and team captain. “We talked on
the court – a lot of communication, so
that kind of helped us out a bit – but we
still need some work to improve.”
The Germans, not to be short-
changed, indeed gave USASMA a run
for their money. Offensive prowess
from the likes of Sebastian Klinnert,
Dirk Wolfram and Coach Torsten
Brunke kept the team within just a few
points of their opponents throughout
most of the match. Where they lost most
of their volleys was from alert USAS-
MA players redirecting spike opportuni-
ties as light, dangerously accurate taps
that yawned over the hands of German
defenders and fell immediately behind
them and out of reach.

Battalion, 43rd Air Defense
Artillery. Though fatigued
from their faceoff against the
Germans, the USASMA squad
made relatively short work of
their next opponents.
The first set went in early favor of
USASMA, who immediately took a
sizeable lead and, despite a few missteps
and communication issues, held it all the
way to a comfortable 25-15 win over 3-43
ADA. The second set did not come so easily
for Uini and his teammates, who bounced
back from an early eight-point deficit to win
25-17, thus securing the match.
“We knew we would probably win the
[second] match if we continued to play
like we did in the first one,” said Uini.
“The main thing for us is just to have fun.
If we progress through the season, end up
in the playoffs and place first, second or
third – that’s good, but as long as we
have fun and stay competitive out
there, that’s my main goal.”

Members of the El Paso Rhinos
hockey team presented hockey equip-
ment to Fort Bliss’ Child, Youth and
School Services during a donation drive
March 14 at the El Paso County
Coliseum.
The Rhinos donated 15 left- and
right-handed hockey sticks each, two
nets, 10 floor hockey balls and two sets
of jerseys – one for the home team and
one for the visitors.
Members of the Rhinos joined third-
and fifth-graders Thursday at School
Age Services to donate the last of the
equipment and to play a few rounds of
floor hockey.
“I volunteered to come out [because]
I thought it would be great fun to play
with the kids and to play floor hockey,”
said Drew Montague, a defensive play-
er with the Rhinos.
The Rhinos first gave an example of
how hockey is played, followed by
Rhinos assistant coach Tom Herman,
who gave an overview of the rules and
emphasized safety during the game.
“This is the players’ chance to be role
models for the children and to have
