General Instructions:1. All questions are compulsory. 2. The question paper consists of thirty questions divided into four sections A,B,C and D. Section A comparises of ten questions of 01 mark each, Section B comparises of five questions of 02 marks each, Section C comparises of ten questions of 03 marks each and Section D comparises of five questions of 06 marks each. 3. All questions of Section A are to be answered in one word, one sentence or as per the exact requierement of the question. 4. There is no overall choice, however , an internal choice has been provided in one question of 02 marks each, three questions of 03 marks each and two question of 06 marks each. You have to attempt only one of the aiternatives in all such questions. 5. In question on construction, drawing should be neat and exactly as per the given measurement. 6. Use of calculators is not permitted. SECTION A [1X10=10 MARKS] Find the Polynomial P(x), whose zeros are 1, -1, and 2. Write the Euclids Division Lemma. Find the sum of even natural number between 10 and 30. For what value(s) of P, the quadratic equation Px2+4x+2=0 have real roots. If Sin = 4/5, evaluate tan . Find the distance between two parallel tangents of a circle whose radius is 3.5cm. If ABC DEF and 9x area (ABC) = 16x area (DEF). Find BC if EF = 5cm. If the radius of larger semicircle, with centre O, is 14cm and diameter of smaller semicircle is 14cm. Find the area of shaded region.

Without drawing the graphs, state whether the following pair of linear equations will represent interesting lines, coincident lines or parallel lines. 6x 3y + 10 = 0 2x y + 9 = 0 Justify your answer. In concentric circles, prove that a chord of larger circle which is tangent to smaller circle is bisected at the point of contact. Find all the zeroes of 2x4 3x3 3x2 + 6x 2 , if you know that two of its zeroes are 2 and 2. Two women and 5 men can together finish an embroidery work in 4 days, while 3 women and 6 men can finish it in 3 days. Find the time taken by 1 woman alone to finish the work, and also that taken by 1 man alone. Find the length of a tangle from a point which is at a distance of 5 cm from the center of the circle of radius 3 cm.

SECTION C [3 X 10 = 30 MARKS] Show that every positive even integer is of the form 2q , and that every positive odd integer is of the form 2q+ 1, where q is some integer. A toy is in the form of a cone of radius 3.5 cm mounted on a hemisphere of the same radius. The total height of the toy is 15.5 cm. Find its total surface area. OR A solid is composed of a cylinder with one of its ends as a hemisphere of the same radiusm as the cylinder. The length of the whole solid is 13.5 cm and the radius of the base is 3.5 cm. Find the total surface area of the solid. Check graphically whether the pair of equations y 3x - = 4 2 and 2x + 3y = 16 is consistent. Construct a circle with radius 2.5cm. Mark a point P t a distance of 7cm from the centre of the circle. Draw two tangents from P to the circle. Write the steps of construction. Find the sum of all three digit numbers which leave the remainder 3 when divided by 5. OR If the sum of m terms of an AP is same as the sum of its n terms, show the sum of (m+n) terms is zero. SECTION D [6 X 5 = 30 MARKS] From the top of the building 100 m high, the angles of depression of the top and bottom of a tower are observed to be 45 and 60 respectively. Find the height of the tower. Also find the distance between the foot of the building and bottom of the tower. OR The angle of elevation of the top of a tower at a point on the level ground is 30. After walking a distance of 100 m towards the foot of the tower along the horizontal line through the foot of the tower on the same level ground, the angle of elevation of the top of the tower is 60. Find the height of the tower. A cone made of paper is of height 3h and vertical angle 2a. It contains two other cones of height 2h and h and vertical angles 4a and 6a. Find the ratio of the two volumes in between the cones. OR A hollow cone is cut by a plane parallel to the base and the upper portion is removed. If the curved surface area of the remainder is 8/9 of the curved surface of the whole cone, find the ratio of the line segment into which the cones altitude is divided by the plane.
