Basic Concepts about Radio Mobile

Radio Mobile Application Objectives
The Radio Mobile application is a tool used to predict the performance of a radio system It uses digital terrain elevation data for extraction of path profile between emitter and receiver This data is added to system, y environmental and statistical p parameters to feed the Irregular g Terrain Model (ITS) radio propagation model

Irregular Terrain Model (ITS)

The ITS model of radio propagation for frequencies between 20 MHz and 20 GHz (the Longley-Rice model) is a general purpose model used in many applications The model, which is based on electromagnetic theory and on statistical analyses of both terrain features and radio measurements, predicts the median attenuation of a radio signal as a function of distance and the variability of the signal in time and in space

Main Outputs
Radio link: p point-to-point p analysis y Coverage maps: received power, signal or field (elevation data can be used to produce altimetry maps in background, which can be merged with other maps from various sources, adding populated places, roads and other geographical features to facilitate location in the area)
