Scavenger Hunt @ the Metropolitan

Museum of Art

We have learned a great deal together this year. Even though we

only focused on the history of the United States, we discovered that art
is history and history is truly art.
The following scavenger hunt has been designed by yours truly to
make your experience at the Met an enjoyable one. Its one of my
favorite museums in the world and I hope that you too develop a deep
love and appreciation for art. My goal is for you to understand the way
it so eloquently tells the story of human history.
As a group (with your chaperones, of course!) you are to use the
clues as a guide to find some pretty incredible works. Be prepared to
discuss them in class on Thursday. Take a picture of your finds once
you spot them (one picture needed per group) and bring them to school
with you! (Cameras, phones, etc. may be usedjust dont use flash!)
For those who will be visiting the Civil War Photography exhibit (Im
lookin at you, seventh grade!) there are no photos allowed. So dont
worry about photographing our 16th president. Correctly identifying a
postcard of mine will suffice.

You will have the entire three hours to complete the scavenger
hunt. It really shouldnt take more than an hour. I did this purposely
because I want you to feel free to roam the rest of the museum with your
team. This trip is meant to be fun, educational, and open your eyes to
the remarkable remnants left behind from the time periods we discussed.
Because we only covered United States history this year, I will add
some of the sixth grade scavenger hunt clues to your paper as extra
credit. If you have extra time, you might want some extra credit. ;-)
This scavenger hunt will count as a test grade. Before you start
whining, think about it. Isnt this just the most fun test ever?
Answer: Yes. It is.
