CROCHETED CUPCAKE HAT

Finished Size: 14” (30.5 cm) circumference

MATERIALS
Medium/Worsted Weight Yarn, approximately:
Color A (Light Brown-for the cake) 50 yards
and Color B (Pink-for the icing) 125 yards
Crochet hook, size H (5.00 mm) or size needed for
gauge
Note: For Sprinkles, add french knots to finished
hat, using a variegated yarn or beads may be used.
GAUGE: 14 sc and 16 rows = 4” (10 cm)

RIBBING
With Color A, ch 9 loosely.
Row 1: Sc in second ch from hook and in each ch
across: 8 sc.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn; sc in back loop only of each sc
across.
Repeat Row 2, 46 times more (48 rows total).
Finish off, cut Color A leaving a long end for sewing.
BODY
Join Color B with slip st in end of last row worked on Ribbing.
Row 1 (Right side): Ch 1, do not turn; working in end of rows, work 2 sc in end of same
row, ch 4, slip st in 4th ch from hook (icing dollop), * sc in end of next 2 rows, ch 4, slip
st in 4th ch from hook (icing dollop); repeat from * across to end of last row, sc in end of
last row: 49 sc.
Row 2: Ch 1, turn; keeping icing dollops to the front of work, sc in same sc and in each
sc across.
Rows 3-12: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.
Work decrease as follows: Pull up a loop in each of next 2 sts, YO and draw through all
3 loops on hook (counts as one sc).
Row 13: Ch 1, turn; sc in first 5 sc, decrease, (sc in next 5 sc, decrease) around: 42 sc.
Row 14: Ch 1, turn; sc in first 4 sc, decrease, (sc in next 4 sc, decrease) around: 35 sc.
Row 15: Ch 1, turn; sc in first 3 sc, decrease, (sc in next 3 sc, decrease) around: 28 sc.
Row 16: Ch 1, turn; sc in first 2 sc, decrease, (sc in next 2 sc, decrease) around: 21 sc.
Row 17: Ch 1, turn; sc in first sc, decrease, (sc in next sc, decrease) around: 14 sc.
Row 18: Ch 1, turn; decrease around: 7 sc.
Row 19: Ch 1, turn; sc in each sc across.
TOP LOOPS
Row 1: Ch 10, turn; slip st in front loop only of first sc, (ch 10, slip st in back loop only
of next sc, ch 10, slip st in front loop only of next sc) across.
Row 2: Ch 10, turn; working in free loops on last row of Body, slip st in back loop only
of first sc on last row of Body, (ch 10, working in front of loop on previous row, slip st
in front loop only of next sc, ch 10, working behind loop on previous row, slip st in
back loop only of next sc) across; finish off leaving a long end for sewing.

FINISHING
Sew back seam and ends of Ribbing together. Weave in all yarn ends.
