About the College

R.M.D. Engineering College, started in the year 2001 at Kavaraipettai, Gummudipoondi Taluk,Thiruvallur district under the auspices of Sri Swaminatha Naidu Educational Trust, a registered Telugu Educational Trust, is an institution creating paradigm shifts with deeper insights towards innovative growth and excellence.. Sri Swaminatha Naidu Educational Trust renders philanthropic and educational service to Telugu linguistic people living in rural areas bordering Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The main objective of the Trust is to foster quality technical, management and higher education, research and training in rural areas in various branches of science and technology and simultaneously inculcate among the youth a sense of discipline so that they can be moulded into competent and talented engineers. The College is located at Kavaraipettai at a distance of about 35 km from Chennai on the Chennai Vijayawada National Highway (NH5). It can be easily reached from Chennai by buses proceeding to Gummudipoondi / Sulurpet / Nellore / Nayudupet / Sri Kalahasthi/ Thirupathi and is located at the confluence of Indias industrial landscape. The College is also accessible by suburban trains running between Chennai and Gummudipoondi and is about a kilometer from Kavaraipettai railway station. College offers Undergraduate Programs in Engineering and Technology and also Postgraduate Programs in Engineering, Business Administration and Computer Applications. It maintains an aura of culture and legacy of unparalleled excellence and irreversible integrity of values inculcated in every student. R.M.D. Engineering College has been certified with ISO 9001:2008 by the DNV, Netherlands for the standard maintained in the delivery of Under-Graduate and PostGraduate Programs. Computer Science and Engineering, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering are the courses accredited by the National Board of Accreditation(NBA), New Delhi for five years. The International conference on Green Computing, Communication and Conservation of Energy ICGCE-2013 aims to bring researchers, scientists, engineers and scholar students together to exchange and share their experiences, new ideas, and the research outcome of all possible aspects of Green Computing, Communication and Conservation of Energy; and to discuss the practical challenges encountered, and the solutions. Green computing or green IT, refers to environmentally sustainable computing or IT. As computing becomes increasingly pervasive, the energy consumption attributable to computing is increasing, despite the clarion call to action to reduce consumption and reverse greenhouse effect The aim green computing is to reduce the use of hazardous materials, maximize energy efficiency during the products lifetime, and promote the recyclability or biodegradability of defunct products and factory waste. Research continues into key areas such as making the use of computers as energy-efficient as possible, and designing algorithms and systems for efficiency-related computer technologies. The mobile industry is seen as a potential enabler to reduce greenhouse gases. To meet the requirement of low-carbon economy development, it is necessary to reduce the operation expenditure or energy consumption of mobile networks, while maintaining acceptable quality of service. In this regard, the conference aims to establish a forum to bring together research professionals from diverse fields including green mobile networks, system architectures, networking & communication protocols, applications, testbed and prototype, traffic balance and energyefficient cooperation transmission, system and application issues.

About the Conference

Replacing the classical energy with alternative green energy, such as bio-energy, solar energy and promoting use of clean energy, and that way, polluting emissions to the air will be reduced. Bio-energy is renewable energy derived from biological sources, to be used for heat, electricity, or vehicle fuel. Biofuel derived from plant materials is among the most rapidly growing renewable energy technologies. Photovoltaic technology makes use of the energy in the sun, and it has little impact on the environment. Photovoltaics can be used in a wide range of products, from small consumer items to large commercial solar electric systems. This conference brings together the challenging technical aspects for supporting and producing renewable energy with less or no impact on the ecosystems. We solicit both academic, research, and industrial contributions. We welcome technical papers presenting research and practical results, position papers addressing the pros and cons of specific proposals, such as those being discussed in the standard fora or in industry consortia, survey papers addressing the key problems and solutions on any of the above topics short papers on work in progress, and panel proposals. BEST STUDENT PAPER AWARD A Best Student Paper award will be presented at the conference. For eligibility criteria and related details visit the conference website. The nominations will be evaluated by the ICGCE 2013 Awards Committee and finalists will be notified by email. The winners will be awarded during the ICGCE 2013 Valedictory Function on December 14, 2013.

Call for Papers

Original contributions based on the results of research and developments are solicited on the wide range of topics listed below. Prospective authors are requested to submit their papers in not more than 6 pages, prepared in the two-column IEEE format. The paper should contain the e-mail addresses, postal addresses and affiliations of the author(s). All accepted papers in compliance with IEEE standards will be published in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library with indexing, provided at least one of the authors registers for the conference. TRACK-1: GREEN COMPUTING Green Computing is nowadays one of the major challenges for most IT organizations that involve medium and large scale distributed infrastructures like Grids, Clouds and Clusters. Green computing is the environmentally responsible use of computers and related resources. Such practices include the implementation of energy-efficient CPUs ,servers and peripherals as well as reduced resource consumption and proper disposal of electronic waste. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, Sustainable Computing Power-aware algorithms and protocols Power-aware software and hardware Virtualization Impact for Green Computing Green Data Storage and Processing Green high-performance computing, applications, performance characterization and evaluation Algorithms and Models Facilitating Green Computing and Networking Cyber Infrastructure and Security Energy-aware resource allocation and scheduling mechanisms TRACK-2 : GREEN IT SOLUTIONS The focus we take is on the role of information systems and technologies in enabling Smart IT solutions for green applications. Research topics from more abstract ones, such as conceptual IT models on how areas could optimize energy consumption, to more technical ones to topics that touch upon usage of IT solutions in pushing for greener real-life processes. Topics of interest include, but are not limited to Green software engineering Methodologies and Tools Green computing models, methodologies and paradigms Enterprise Architectures and Analysis Approaches for Green Applications Green Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition IT-driven Smart Home Solutions Green business process reengineering and management Green Sustainable Intelligence Qos and Green Computing Green Architectures for Grids, Clouds and Clusters TRACK-3 : GREEN COMMUNICATIONS AND NETWORKING Telecommunications applications can have a direct, tangible impact on lowering greenhouse gas emissions, power consumption, and achieve efficient recycling of equipment waste. Moreover, to find radio networking solutions that can greatly improve energy-efficiency as well as resourceefficiency (Green Communications) is not only beneficial for the global environment but also makes commercial sense for telecommunication operators supporting sustainable and profitable business.

Within the framework of Green Communications, a number of paradigm-shifting technical approaches can be expected, including but not limited to energy-efficient network architecture & protocols, energy-efficient wireless transmission techniques, cross-layer optimization methods, and opportunistic spectrum sharing without causing harmful interference pollution.
