______________________________________________________ SECTION II ______________________________________________________ 1. Assertion : Even through Huygens wave theory accounts for all the phenomena associated with light , it is necessary to view light as an electromagnetic wave. Reason : Huygens wave theory assumes the existence of something called ethers which is hypothetical. 2. Assertion : In Youngs double slit experiment , if light from a source falls directly on the two slits, interference will not be observed. Reason : The two slits will not be coherent as the beam can be considered to come from an extended source.

3.

Assertion : Both heat energy and charge are carried by the free electrons in pure metals. Reason : For pure metals, the electrical conductivity is directly related to the thermal conductivity.

4.

Assertion : The law of conservation of the total energy of a particle placed in a conservative force field holds. Reason : In a conservative force field, the work done on a particle in moving it from one given point in the field to another does not depend upon the path chosen.
