GATE Rankers
The list of GATE rankers is given below out of which half of a dozen will secure M.Tech seats in IITs / NITs / IIITs, where as others in state Universities.

The school encourages students to participate in both Co-Curricular and Extra Curricular activities. Students are made to opt and carry out mini research projects and to present their findings in the symposia and conferences. . Sri Lekha bagged first prize in Bioflare-2012, a national level Ms. G. Sai Manasa and Ms. P technical symposium organized by Anil Neerukonda Institute of Technology & Science, Visakhapatnam. They have presented their project outcomes in a paper entitled ISOLATION OF BIOFILM PRODUCING BACTERIA & ANTIBIOFILM AGENTS IDENTIFICATION. .Srinivas bagged second prize for their working model on Electric Pulses for Mr.Dinesh and Mr.P Cancer Treatment: at JKC College, Guntur on 1st March, 2012. Ms. K. Madhuri has won Second Prize for oral paper presentation on Cytogenetic studies in Couples with Repeated Abortions in National Seminar on New Frontiers in Industrial Biotechnology held at Department of Biotechnology Bapatla Engineering College, Bapatla Dt. July 15th and 16th July 2011. Ms. T. Sree Jyothsna, K. Karuna has won Second Prize in Poster Presentation on Cancer Treatment Using Nanotechnology, in Aagama11 (National Level Technical Paper Contest), held at Department of Biotechnology MIC college, Kanchikacherla on 23rd September, 2011. Mr. S. Vedavyas has won Second Prize in Poster Presentation on Tubal Ligation May Be The Route Cause Of Cancer In Females in SHAASTRA 2011, held at IIT Madras. The school helps the students to under go industrial training program to get hands on experience at the end of their sixth semester and semester long project in 8th semester.

VIGNAN STUDENTS SELECTED FOR BCILDBT SCHOLARSHIP

On behalf of DBT (Department of Biotechnology, Govt. of India), BCIL (Biotech Consortium India Limited) implements a scheme of practical industrial training for skill development and enhancing job opportunities in biotech industry to B.Tech. /M.Tech Biotechnology students. The training period is for six months with a stipend of Rs.8000/- per month. The following students were selected for this programme. B.Tech (Biotechnology)
Bachelor of Biotechnology is a four years discipline focusing on basic and applied sciences work along with the engineering principles together. It is an industrial and research oriented branch which is a combination of Biology and Technology and covers a wide variety of subjects like Genetics, Biochemistry, Microbial technology, Immunology, Nanotechnology, Bioprocess Engineering, Plant and Animal Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Genetic Engineering, Down Stream Processing, and Bioinformatics etc

M.Tech (Biotechnology & Bioprocess Engineering)
This PG course focuses on the skills needed in the industry such as the production of vaccines, cytokines, hormones and extraction of novel drugs from plants and fungi. A graduate of this programme can be absorbed easily in the Biotechnology Core Industry or he/she can opt for research. More emphasis is given on the Bioprocess Engineering subjects like Advanced Bioprocess Engineering, Enzyme Technology, Advanced Process Principles, Advanced Down Stream Processing, Fermentation Technology & Process Control, Bioreactor Design & Plant Economics, and Industrial Biotechnology & Metabolic Engineering.

Intermediate with Bi P C or M P C / CBSE +2

Faculty Mentors
D r. G . S u b h r a h m a n a y a m ( I I T- B o m b a y ) a n d Dr.G.Satyanarayana (IIT-Madras) are the faculty mentors who regularly visit Vignan University and familiarize the faculty with recent advances in technologies and research.

Laboratories and Equipment

In addition to an exclusive research laboratory, the other four laboratories consist of advanced equipments like Electrophoresis units, Orbital Shaking Incubator, Laminar Airflow Chambers, Autoclaves, PCR, Fermentor, C o o l i n g C e n t r i f u g e , F l u r o m e t e r, V i s i b l e Spectrophotometer, UV-Visible Spectrophotometer with SPECTRA TREAT software, Rotar Shaker etc along with common facilities like HPLC and GC.

Biotechnology is recognized as the latest promising sector in the Indian economy primarily due to its involvement in Pharmaceutical, Industrial, Clinical, Agricultural, Food and Health industries. It is fast gaining ground and competing with the fast growing areas like Information Technology, Infrastructure and HRD. At Vignan University, School of Biotechnology has well qualified and experienced faculty who are specialists in various areas of Biotechnology. The school is supported by central level placement and training cell, which provides assistance to the students in getting training in different areas of Biotechnology, Bioinformatics and to get a job in the core / software industry and research institutions. At present B.Tech (Biotechnology) and M.Tech (Biotechnology and Bioprocess Engineering) are being offered in Vignan University. The implementation of the programmes M.Sc (Biotechnology) and M.ScTech (Biotechnology) is under active consideration.

PLACEMENTS Faculty
Currently there are 13 dedicated faculty members out of which 8 are with Ph.D and remaining are M.Tech graduates. Most of the faculty members are drawn from prestigious institutions like IIT (Bombay, Kharagpur), HCU, IMTECH-Chandigarh and well trained in foreign Universities of USA, Russia Italy and France. SPC Biotech, Virchow Biotech, Wockhardt and E4E, Allsec Technologies are some of the core industries in which our alumni are placed. Apart from core industries, software industries like TCS & MPhasis have also recruited B.Tech (Biotechnology) students (Ms.. D. Divya,Ms. K. V. S. Nagasri,Ms. K. Sravani,Ms. T. Navaneetha, Ms. T. Sree Jyothsna, Ms. N.Hima Bindu and Mr. K.Ranjith Kumar).
