Principals Message
Graduation: This year our graduation will be on Saturday, June 8, at 10:00 AM. The director of the facilities department and I continue working hard to improve parking for this important day. Please note the following: Only vehicles with handicapped parking will be permitted to park on the west side of the building adjacent to the field. I encourage anyone with a need for handicapped parking to contact Elaine Maney at FMRHS. By doing so, we will have an estimate of the number of spaces needed. We encourage our students to car pool or for parents to drive their graduate to the high school, therefore decreasing the number of cars. Student vehicles will be parking on the grass along the Math and English wing. High school staff and school district personnel will be parking on the field to the left of the Early Learning Center. We will have many individuals helping to park cars on this special day. Please be sure to look for someone to inform you where to park. As always, if you need special arrangements please do not hesitate to contact me. Lastly, if we need to have the graduation ceremony in the gymnasium due to inclement weather, students will receive six tickets. If families do not need all Principals Message continued . . . .

A Message from the Assistant Principal

May Reminders
As we enter the month of May, its time to remind you about the participation of students in the New Hampshire Statewide Assessment System. Students in Grade 11 will participate in the NECAP Science Assessment on May 20 and 21, 2013. Testing will begin at 7:20 a.m. each day and end at approximately 10:45 AM on May 20 and approximately 8:45 AM May 21. Make-up sessions will be scheduled as needed for students who miss the test due to illness. As this is a mandatory state assessment, participating students should be in attendance both days in order to complete their test. Test scores are only as meaningful as the effort students put into the test. Parents should ensure that their child(ren) receive a good nights sleep the nights before the testing as well as eat a healthy breakfast the mornings of testing. As well, parents should strongly encourage their child(ren) to take the test seriously and to give their best effort. Letters with more information about the test and the procedures will be sent home to the parents/guardians of those students who will be taking the test. Spring has sprung and with it comes the change in students choices in clothing. It is important to remember that revealing clothing is unacceptable in school. Shorts and skirts must be of appropriate length and tops must cover the body. Please take the time to review the guidelines for appropriate clothing in school. Heidi Gove, Assistant Principal hgove@sau60.org

ALL STUDENTS
The course selection process for 2013 2014 is complete. Every student should have met with his or her counselor by this time. In May the master schedule will be developed. Fall Mountains data management system will do the work for us; student schedules will be created through a computer scheduling process. If students have conflicts or open blocks due to course availability, guidance will meet with those students to work out scheduling problems in late May or early June. Completed schedules will be mailed home in early August.

May 2013

SENIOR MEN: If you are 18 years old you must register with the Selective Service (www. sss.gov) in order to be eligible for student aid.

Juniors should be narrowing their list of colleges and visiting campuses this summer and fall. Check college websites or call admissions to schedule tours and interviews. Remember, it is vitally important to visit campuses before you commit to spending four years of your life living in a certain environment in which you may not be comfortable.

JUNIORS

Congratulations to the following students for their positive accomplishments at FMRHS: Thursday, May 30 7:00 PM in the high school auditorium. Students earning awards or scholarships will receive invitations to attend awards night.

JROTC
Hello and welcome back to another month of exciting news and events! This month has been a busy one, and there are more to follow.

On April 6, we participated in our seasonal highway cleanup in Charlestown, NH. We conducted this mission along a part of State Highway Route 12 that we own. Cadets had a great time as usual, and found some interesting items as well. We enjoy and look forward to maintaining that part of Route 12 as our responsibility and contribution to the community. Also on Saturday, we performed a full Military Funeral at Saint Peters Cemetery, Walpole, NH. Cadets proudly honored our deceased veteran with a Color Guard, Firing Detail, and Flag-Folding Honors. The highlight of this month was our annual Military Ball. This was a two day process of setting up the school for this extravagant event. On April 12, Cadets and parents helped out with the setting up of the tables, chairs, tablecloths, and silverware; along with the 40 by 60 foot flag. Then, on the morning of April 13 Cadets along with parents and staff members set up the balloons, decorations, and floral arrangements. The evening was one of elegant dinner and dancing. All Cadets did a fantastic job and received awards from prestige associations. We would like to thank everyone who participated and helped out with this wonderful and worthy night. A meeting was held at the high school on April 16 to discuss next years mission to Normandy, France in honor of the 70th anniversary of D-Day. Selected Cadets will be marching in a parade which may be the last one held with World War II Veterans attending. We look forward to working towards this honorable task. At the end of May, Cadets will be marching in six Memorial Day parades through out the district. This is a very exciting day for us. Until next time TRY, TRY, NEVER DIE! HOOAHH!
