CAESAR II Version 5.

00
October 25, 2005 CAESAR II Version 5.00 is a Windows (2000/XP) based program. Version 5.00 will run properly only under Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional. The input files created by Version 5.00 are not downward compatible with previous versions. As always, any input file from any previous version can be read by Version 5.00. We suggest that for existing users, Version 5.00 be installed in a different directory from Version 4.50. The version number and build date are displayed in the lower right corner of the Main Menu , to aid in avoiding confusion. Please remember, Version 5.00 files can not be read by previous versions.

New piping codes: The piping input interface has a new layout Additional FRP data files added Many (3D) graphics improvements The static output processor now allows users to create custom reports. The ability to export drawings to Isogen The ability to use a specific elastic modulus on a load case by load case basis. The option to use a "consistent mass matrix" for dynamic analysis.

NOTES:
This version of CAESAR II should be started by invoking the program C2.EXE. Once this module is running, you should open/pick/set a job name (from the File menu) before attempting to use any other module. Most of the modules count on knowing the "current working directory", and if this information is not available they will abort. There is a Set_Default_Data_Directory menu option, which will save this value in the registry. Until a valid jobname/directory is selected, the program assumes a startup directory of \caesar\examples, assuming the software was installed in a directory named caesar. The startup directory will always be the value stored in the registry, which can be changed via the Main Menu. The Distribution Letter, and Chapter 1 of the Users Guide both contain a list of Technical Changes. These changes (necessitated by piping code addenda or algorithm refinements) may cause a job to yield different results than prior versions of CAESAR II. Please review this list of changes to be aware of the specific items that may affect your jobs.

Post Installation Considerations

Three batch files are installed in the CAESAR II program directory. These files and their usage are: NETUSERC2.BAT - If CAESAR II is installed to a network drive, only the installing workstation has the proper DLLs installed and registered. Other workstations intending to run CAESAR II should run this batch file to ensure their DLLs are current and registered. ACCESS97.BAT - This batch file will copy the MS Access 97 template onto the active template used by CAESAR II. This is the default template, so if you are running Access 97, running this batch file should be unnecessary. ACCESS2K.BAT - This batch file will copy the MS Access 2000 template onto the active template used by CAESAR II. If you are running Access 2000, you should run this batch file to use the

appropriate template, and avoid converting the database files individually.
