In English 1102, the knowledge and skills taught will be used for years to come.

When it comes to writing and my work in English 1102, I have progressed tremendously from the beginning of the semester. One of my greatest improvements as a writer was my detail into my work. For example, in the beginning of English1102, this was my definition of Actors, artifacts, Figured Worlds, and Literacy Practice at the beginning of the semester. Actors are just people playing a role of another person, Actors are a persons sense of being in the world. Artifacts are simply objects used by the actors. Figured World is a constructed world that has certain rules for how to behave and communicate. Literacy practice is learning a certain literacy, whichever that literacy may be. Although these definitions may not necessarily be wrong, they lack the detail needed for a good definition. Another example is the first Affordances and Constraints in-class activity. For Assignment One, my group had 4 affordances, and 9 constraints. This once again lacks the detail needed for good writing. However, as the class progressed my writing seemed to improve. The assignments, group work, and peer workshops proved to have a large impact on my writing and the detail I put in to go above and beyond the criteria asked of me. For example, in my Assignment Two peer workshop, Natalie commented on my work saying, The timing is detailed and easy to follow the chain of events. Also later commenting on another piece saying, Very detailed, good job. I have gone above and beyond the assignment guidelines for many different assignments throughout the course. One assignment I went above and beyond in, first off is Assignment 2. In assignment 2, I met all the guidelines and criteria, exceeding most of them. For example, the requirement for Assignment 2 was to have 2 interviews. In my case, I interviewed three people. I interviewed Nick Zerweck, Chase Severino, and Nick Marshall. The extra interview gave me the support I needed to back up my overall meaning of my essay and better me as a writer. Another example of where I went above and beyond in English 1102 was during assignment 3. Again in Assignment three, we were supposed to interview at least 1 person except this time, get it on film for the documentary. In my Assignment three, I recorded two video interviews and put them in my documentary. This is because I wanted to not only get the perspective of my Figured World, but the perspective of someone who is outside my figured world. I accomplished my goal and went above the guidelines. Also, not only did I conduct two interviews, but also my final documentary exceeded the minimum time limit of 7 minutes. My final documentary for Assignment 3 for example, totaled in at 15 seconds short of 8 minutes. This shows that I went above and beyond the guidelines to not only be able to get an average grade, but to improve my overall literacy of my Figured world and to be able to explain that to others in my English 1102 class. I could see the work of this class easily transferring to other classes. This is because this class simply was not an average English class. For example, we did group projects, went out in the real world to observe people for Assignments, and watched the Office! I see my work from this class transferring to other classes simply because it is knowledge that will be needed in other classes. For example, In my theater class this semester, I had to write a paper on a play that I saw called, Romeo and Juliet. This play was short, boring, and lacked things to talk about. However, with the knowledge taught to me over the course of English 1102, I was able to give the most in depth, detailed paper of the play that shocked my professor. My paper was given an A and also praised highly. Classes like these I can definitely see my work transferring over from English 1102.

Over the course of English 1102, I believe I did well with my topics and once again my detail. Unlike most students in English 1102, I believe I chose great places to do observations for not only Assignment 1, but also Assignment 2 and 3. For example, In my Assignment 3, I had events going on in my figured world every single day that I was able to observe. This is the reason my notes and my Assignment was able to go such into depth. However, I believe I lacked the common English class necessities that were taught in our class. For example, the Assignment Three Guidelines state, You must have a balanced representation of summaries, paraphrases, and quotations you may not exclusively use quotations. However, In assignment 3, it was very hard for me to get summaries and quotes in because I was always confused as what to look for. I dont even believe I had more then 1 paraphrase in all of Assignment Three. This I believe I should have taken more time on and focused just a little bit more on. Lastly, If I had another opportunity to further revise my website, first off I would go back and edit all my Final Projects. Looking back on it, I can definitely point out errors that I simply did not notice while I was doing the Assignments. Also, I would change the overall layout of my website and make it more interesting. For example, my website has a red and black background throughout each page. One change I could make is making each page have a different color. This could change the mood of my website and at least make it fun just in case the reader does not find my work interesting.
