Why save electricity?

Firstly, Lets talk about why save electricity! You've probably heard the grown-ups in your house say "Turn off the light!" or "Close the refrigerator door!" Have you ever wondered why?Every year, we use more energy than we did the year before. In fact, the amount of energy we use has doubled about every 20 years! How ridiculous is that?! We should save electricity so there is enough for

people to use when they really need it.

save energy for many reasons. Using most forms of energy produce waste and heat, which are acting to destroy and pollute our environment and to cause global warming. Many form of fuel energy (like gas or oil) are nite resources, and once they are used up there will not be any more produced for millions of In addition, saving more years. Conserving electricity reduces the need for natural resources energy means that we sustain the amount of needed to produce time that those such electricity, therefore available resources will be reducing the there for humans to use. environmental footprint We only have one Earth, of our electric grid and and we should do what making our economy we can to keep it healthy, more efficient. People beautiful, and clean!

My Plan
For my yearlong environmental plan, I decided to work on reducing my familys electricity consumption. I chose this topic, instead of water, because I noticed, my family and I waste a lot of electricity without being aware, but when it comes to water, we are aware in most cases of when we are wasting it. If I chose water, I am guessing my results will be almost the same throughout the end of the year, and I wouldnt have much to compare with, as my family and I are very much aware. With electricity, I was sure that, by making slight alterations my family and I can easily reduce our electricity consumption. Considering the fact that our house is an independent villa, it has 9 air cons. It is clear and obvious that our ACs consume a massive amount of electricity. To resolve this problem, we have completely stopped using air

cons, and now only use the fans in our house. Also, we have installed meshes for each of our windows, so that we could let in more fresh air from outside, instead of having the need to use ACs.

My Results

Looking at my data below, it is clear that our electricity consumption has reduced drastically over these past few months! Although in the beginning, it did increase a little Again, since our house is quite bit, as that was when we had just big, there are a lot of lights in my moved in to our new house, and house! My family and I tend to had to turn all our ACs, Fans, leave our lights on, even though light...etc. on to make sure they we dont need it. This happens were working. I then took it more especially during weekdays, as seriously, and really worked on everyone is in a rush to go to reducing my familys electricity work, or school. We turn our consumption. Although I am very lights on mostly in our rooms, proud of the results. I still am and leave the house. I sometimes determined to decrease m get home very late from school, at electricity consumption. In order about 7:30pm, and then realize to do that, I put sticky notes on my lights have have been on for every switchboard that exists in the whole day, for almost about our house, as a reminder. 13 hours! What a waste! To save Hopefully this will make a electricity, we should always difference as to how much check, and turn off all the lights electricity I consume. when we dont need them. Consider sticking up post it notes as a reminder for you to turn off your lights.

Months'number'
The equation of the line of best t for this graph is, y= -200x+1800. To nd the equation for the line of best t, I took two points on the line, which were (1,1600) and (2,1400) and did change in y by change in x. But always remember It is always y2- y1 / x2-x1. I then got the slope of -200. For the vertical intercept, I used the point at where the line touched the y-axis (1800) I then substituted the values in. y= mx+b y= -200x+ 1800

Now that we have the equation, it should be very easy to nd out the number of months it will take us to go down to 300KwH. All you do is substitute, and solve it. Except, this time, you substitute 300 in the place 0f y. So, y= 300. This is because you want to nd out how many months (x-axis). y= -200x+ 1800 300= -200x+ 1800 200x= 1800-300 200x= 1500 x= 1500/200 x= 7.5 It will take 7 and a half months for my familys electricity consumption to go down to 300 KwH. It will be in the middle of December this year.

How many months will it take for my familys electricity consumption to go down to 300 KwH?
