April 2009 No. 809

Hello, everyone,

Are you walking with a spring in your step? Are the winter
blues becoming a memory? I feel like that. This is my favourite
time of the year, with the days becoming longer, the daffodils
looking beautiful and spring is here.

It’s the time of year I always look forward to.

The gardens are showing signs of new life all around. I even
have some frogspawn in my pond which I keep looking at to
see how the tadpoles are developing.

It’s also an important time in the life of Churches everywhere.

We remember how Jesus was crucified and then rose from
the dead to give new life in the hearts of all his friends and
disciples, and in the hearts of Christians today.
I wish you all a very happy Easter and hope you feel Jesus’ love in
your hearts.

Love and blessings

Gordon who is unwell at this time, and any others known to us who are
poorly. We remember any of our church family who are in Nursing Homes
and think especially of Jennie Hall, Peggy Iceton, Gladys Geldart and Ethel
Gibson. We also remember Betty Reeks following the death of her
brother and also Kathryn, Martin, Joseph and Sam Read following the
death of Kathryn’s Dad.

Brian would welcome any donations towards the flowers for

APRIL BIRTHDAY COFFEE MORNING

10.00 am
Tea / Coffee, & Biscuits
Cost £1 – accompanied children free

Have you thought about joining one of our study groups? As a member of
the Methodist Church we are called to learning and caring through Bible
study and meeting for fellowship. If you are not already in a fellowship
group, then maybe you'd like to give one a try. Currently there are two
groups running, one on alternate Tuesday mornings from 9.30am – 10.30am
and the other on alternate Wednesday afternoons from 1.45pm – 2.45pm.
Each group meets in the home of one of our members and we study and
discuss Bible passages and related material informally over a cup of tea and a
biscuit. If you would like to know more, please have a word with Mary Wells
or Margaret Cuthbert.

Can you spare an hour or so, approximately once a

month to help with Church Cleaning? The cleaning
teams do a splendid job in keeping the premises
clean and tidy, but they are all rather seriously
undermanned (or woman-ed!) at present and would
welcome extra volunteers to spread the load a little. Please give
prayerful consideration to this and if you feel you can help,
contact Margery Graham Tel: 258353 to find out more. Many
thanks.

environment. If you know any girls aged 5 – 7 years who would like to join
our group, please ask them to contact the Rainbow Leader Kathryn Sygrove
