The Alternative Housing Summit organizations have always viewed themselves as complementary to the main summit seeking to add more voices, expertise and first hand local knowledge to the discussion. “All but absent from the mayor’s summit program are local community-based organizations, housing researchers, and those for whom $275 has proved a barrier, as well as a genuine definition of affordable housing that is not simply ‘at or below market rent,’” Said Spooner.
