INTEGRATED RTCC PANEL

i.RTCC
APPLICATION :
The Microcontroller based Integrated RTCC Panel is used for automatic voltage control of Transformers with motor driven On - load Tap Changer. Step by step control algorithm is adopted, i.e. a single control pulse operates the tap changer from one position to the next. This iRTCC Panel is not dependent on Transformer Rating. Hence it can be used virtually with any Rating of Transformers. It is Compatable to all Make of OLTCs such as Easun MR, OLG, CTR and Alwaye make OLTCs.

Version : STD - 04

FEATURES :
The i. RTCC Panel is to be interfaced directly with the On Load Tap changer mechanism. The automatic voltage Regulating Relay (AVR) and Tap position Indicators are built into the system. Provision has been made to indicate critical parameters of the Tap changer mechanism on LED facia. Many safety Interlocks have been provided so that the Tap changer mechanism and the Transformers are not subjected to undue and irrelevant operations. New user friendly soft keys switches with Scroll Knob enable the operator to programme the correct and the desired parameters there by improving the voltage quality as well as optimizing the operations of Tap changer mechanism.

DESCRIPTION OF CONTROL AND DISPLAYS : MCB-1 Minature Circuit Breaker - POWER SWITCH :
It is the 3 Phase / 4 Wire Auxiliary supply ON / OFF Control to OLTC. The 3 Phase Power Input to this MCB is derived from LT Bus. The Output of the MCB is taken to OLTC. Thus by switching OFF the MCB the total supply to OLTC is cut OFF. Hence no Tap Changing Operation is possible once the MCB is switched OFF. However the OLTC may be operated by Manual Cranking or Rotation with the Hand Lever. The MCB is rated to trip at 6 Amps.

D1 - DISPLAY :
It is a super bright 7 segment 5 Digit Display. During normal operation, the BUS Voltage, either in 433V or 110V Mode is indicated on this display. In PROG. mode, the display Indicates the Programmable Parameter Values as per programming selector switch position.

D2 - DISPLAY :
It is a two digit 7 segment super Bright display to Indicate the tap position. In the event of failure of any Tap resistance or the Wiper contacts in the Tap Changer Mechanism, the display Indicates Over Range and Automatic Operation is disabled. 4

SELECTOR SWITCHES : CSS1 - SEQUENCE Operation) SELECTOR SWITCH (Applicable only for Parallel

It is a Four Positions selector Switch to select MASTER, FOLLOWER, OFF and INDEPENDENT . sequence of Operation. In Master mode, the iRTCC panel becomes the Master Controlling Unit. Depending upon the Voltage level, it generates Commands to control and operates its own Tap changer Mechanism and also in addition Transmits data to other iRTCC Panel which is in FOLLOWER mode. Hence the FOLLOWER iRTCC Panel follows the MASTER iRTCC Panel. I.e. The operation of the FOLLOWER Panel is determined by the MASTER Panel. In Case of Parallel Operation of two Numbers of Transformers, Both the iRTCC Panel Version:STD04 Can be interfaced directly using only a 3 core cable. In FOLLOWER mode, the iRTCC Panel can only receive signals from the MASTER panel and acts accordingly. The iRTCC Panel in FOLLOWER mode does not look for the signals from its own AVR. In INDEPENDENT mode, the iRTCC Panel works independently depending upon its own set Parameters and Switch Positions. It does not Transmit or Receive Signals.

CSS2 - AUTO / MANUAL SELECTOR SWITCH

It is a Four position AUTO / MANUAL control switch. In AUTO MODE, the complete operation of the Tap Changer Mechanism is controlled Automatically as per the programmed parameters. In MANUAL mode the Tap Changer Mechanism may be made to operate by pressing RAISE and LOWER push buttons even if the voltage is within the bandwidth. However during UPPER LIMIT / LOWER LIMIT REACHED Condition, No further control pulses can be generated in the same direction even in manual mode. It is possible to operate the Tap Changer Mechanism in the Reverse direction only.

CSS3 - PROGRAMMING SELECTOR SWITCH

The function of this Selector switch is to select the parameter to be programmed. Five most Important Parameter Viz NVA, LRS, RRS, td and Max. Tap have been made operator programmable depending upon the site conditions. Refer to section for programming method.

PUSH BUTTONS : PB1 - RAISE PB :

Enabled only in MANUAL mode. Operation of this Push Buttons gives a control pulse to the Tap Changer Mechanism to shift to the next Higher Tap. However if the Tap Changer Mechanism is already at the highest tap provided, Raise PB does not generate any control pulse. The operation of this PB is not Voltage dependent. A Minimum time gap of 10 Secs is to be provided between two Consecutive operation of this PB.

PB2 - LOWER PB :
Enabled only in MANUAL mode. Operation of this Push Button gives a control pulse to the Tap Changer Mechanism to shift to the next Lower Tap. However if the Tap Changer Mechanism is already at the Lowest tap, lower PB does not generate any control pulse. This operation of this PB is not Voltage dependent. A minimum time gap of 10 Secs is to be provided between two consecutive operation of this PB.

Pb3 - LAMP TEST :

Operation of this push button lights up all the LED facias for the duration of the operation of the push buttons. This facility is provided to test all the LED Facias.

INDICATIONS : FACIA : F1 - TAP CHANGE IN PROGRESS :

It comes on whenever a control pulse is generated either to Raise or Lower the Tap position. It will Remain in ON condition for a duration of 10 / 20 secs or till the Tap position changes, which ever is earlier. It operates both in AUTO and MANUAL mode. However in LOCAL mode the above Facia is not illuminated.

F2 - UPPER LIMIT REACHED :

It comes ON whenever the Upper Most Tap is reached and remain in ON condition till the tap position is lowered. The signal to the above Facia is generated internally depending upon the maximum tap position programmed. It does not look for signal from upper limit contacts provided in the tap changer mechanism.

F3 - LOWER LIMIT REACHED :

It comes ON whenever the lowest most tap position is reached i.e. Tap number 01 and remain ON till the tap position is incremented. It does not look for signal from lower limit contacts provided in the tap changer mechanism.

F4 - OLTC STUCK :

Once generation of Raise / Lower control pulse, either in AUTO or MANUAL mode, the tap changer mechanism should operate to either increment or decrement the tap position. In the event, of the tap does not change within 10 /20 secs, the above Facia comes ON indicating OLTC STUCK status. When the above fault occurs, the system will reset automatically and it will give Raise and Lower Command, depends on PT Voltage. The above signal is generated internally and does not receive any status inputs from the Tap Changer Mechanism.

F5 - OLTC MOTOR OVERLOAD :

The input to the above facia is derived from the potential free NO contacts of the OLTC motor overload Relay. Under overload condition, the facia glows continuously till the over load relay is reset. As long as the over load Indication persists the system does not generate control pulses either in AUTO or MANUAL mode.

F6 - UNDER / OVER VOLTAGE :

Whenever the PT Voltage crosses the programmed under or over voltage limits, the above Facia comes ON and remains so till the PT voltage reaches the programmed Restoration levels. The above signal is internally generated and does not look for any external inputs.

F7 - LOCAL
The illumination of the above Facia is controlled by the Remote / Local switch provided in the Tap changer mechanism. Whenever the above switch is put into LOCAL mode, the above Facia illuminates. In the absence of the illumination of the above Facia, it is under stood that the switch in the Tap changer mechanism is in the remote mode. In LOCAL mode, the complete control operation of iRTCC is disabled and the tap changing operation has to be carried out locally from the Tap changer mechanism using locally provided Raise and Lower push buttons. However in local mode the following status indications viz, upper limit, lower limit, are active. The displays D1 and D2 also indicates the respective parameters. Only the Tap Change in Progress and OLTC Stuck status indicating Facias are disabled in LOCAL mode.

F8 - OUT OF STEP
The above Facia illuminates when two Transformers working in Parallel are an different Taps. This Facia is enabled only in iRTCC - STD - 04 Panel with Parallel Operation feature having Group selector switch (i.e. CSS3).
