First Cycle

10. Right palm over left dorsum and left palm over right dorsum

11. Palm to palm fingers interlaced

12. Backs of fingers to opposing palms with fingers interlocked

13. Rotational rubbing of right thumb clasped in left palm and visa versa 14. Rotational rubbing backwards and forwards with clasped fingers of right hand in left palm and visa versa 15. Washes arms in circular motion up to 5 cm ABOVE elbow (one way) 16. DOES NOT RINSE 17. Wets sponge under running water and apply soap 18. With fingertips together, scrubs nails for 1 minute (30 seconds each hand) 19. RINSES THOROUGHLY 20. Keeps hands above elbows at all times* Second Cycle 21. Opens inner glove wrapper, exposing cuffed gloves with palms up 40. Picks up first glove by folded cuff, touching only inside portion of cuff

41. While holding cuff in one hand, slips other hand (palm facing upwards) into glove

42. Picks up second glove by sliding fingers of gloved hand under cuff of second 43. Puts second glove on ungloved hand by maintaining a steady pull through cuff and unfold cuff over gown 44. Unfolds first cuff over gown as well

45. Adjusts glove fingers until gloves fit comfortably 46. Avoids touching inner surfaces of gloves* Fastens gown 47. Unties knot on gown 48. Hands paper strip to circulating nurse or technician 49. Turns around while circulator holds paper strip firmly 50. Ties knot on gown
