Daft Punk Around the World 2012 video proposal

Our Group Our production group consists of Will Lennard, Andy King and Tom Cassani. We all have the technical skills required to achieve this task. http://cassania2musicvid.blogspot.co.uk/\ http://andykmusic.blogspot.co.uk/ http://wlmusicvideos.blogspot.co.uk/ Our Brief We have been tasked with the creation of a promotion package for the release of an album, to include a music promo video, together with a cover for its release as part of a digipak [CD/DVD package] and a magazine advert for the digipak [CD/DVD package]) Essentially our music video is an urban sports mashup meets mad DJ. Bikers Breakers, skaters with a Traveling character who encounters them all. Ending with a big party. The Track The song was recorded in 1995 and released March 1997. We are using the radio edit version, which is 3:55 long (the album version is 7:08). The track was written by Thomas Bangalter & Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo who together make Daft Punk. Audience Aimed at a predominantly male (urban sports theme) audience aged 16 to 34 with a secondary audience of 13-15 (there may also be some aspirational tweens attracted too) and 35-44 (the original fanbase). However, the track itself and cast members could appeal to the female gaze. Were targeting an adult audience as this is club music (and accepting that 16-17s do make up a portion of the club audience), which will help add aspirational appeal to a younger audience too. Genre The genre of music is electro house but falls under the genres house and is a form of dance music. Electro house began in the 1980s and is a sub genre of house music. It has been around for 30 years now and still maintains a young and old audience. It is often distinguishable by its pop elements like vocals and synths as well as looped phrases in the beat and vocals. Some well known names in the electro house scene and deadmou5 and David Guetta. Mise-En-Scene The performers costumes excluding the Traveller will be modern and stylish but also suitable to their specific skill. This is so that they can perform but also reflect our target audience. The locations we have chosen are, Bluebell Woods, The streets of Leeds and Ilkley, Yorkshire Dance Centre and Hyde park skate park.

We have confirmed locations for the streets woods and a studio (yet to be booked but performers have access.) The house location is yet to be confirmed but accept the possibility that the outside of the house can be filmed in a different place to the interior if needed due to where the performers are based. The skate park and other locations are based in an urban environment (excluding the woods). The indoor or concrete settings are often associated with clubs or non-acoustic computer generated music.

Cast Our video will feature multiple characters. In particular the Traveller he is has person who appears in each different location leaving a flyer. He is seen in the background of the other action and occasionally has a close up shot of him lip-syncing the words Around the World. He will carry with him a large old-fashioned suitcase. He will wear a large parker coat, large boots, faded jeans and shirt. Charlie Maslen will play him. The video will feature Breakdancers, mountain bikers, a skateboarder, free runners, and the Traveller. The music video will consist of footage of these activities taking place intermittently.

Using slow motion and other editing techniques the footage will be cut to accompany the music. In each location, the Skate Park, Woods, Streets, Studio the traveler will be seen leaving his flyer. Towards the end of the track the performers will be seen coming together on one road. This is where they all meet the traveler. They enter a party at a house on the street together and join in the fun as the Traveler approaches the Decks and begins to DJ and is seen playing Around the world as his suitcase is full of cds.

Digipak

Our Digipak will be designed coinciding with the music video. The pack itself will replicate the suitcase prop in the Video. It will include 2 discs and a booklet with lyrics and extra information. The pack includes DVD with live performance, backstage footage and making of CD with Radio Edit Original and Remixes of Around the World The discs themselves will be printed to match the inner case and the whole pack will be one complete package.
