Youth Artist in Residence Program 2013 Guidelines & General Information Wollongong City Council invites applications for

the Youth Artist in Residence Program based at the Wollongong Youth Services June2013 June 2014 General Information The Wollongong Youth Centre Artist in Residence Program is a partnership between Wollongong Youth Services, Cultural Services and Wollongong City Council. The program is to support the professional development of a young emerging artist who is looking to develop their art practice, experiment and develop a body of work to exhibit at the end of the residency program. The program also aims to provide experience working and exchanging skills with other young people. Who can apply The Program is open a range of art disciplines including painting, sculpture, installation, moving image, digital, illustration and photography. Applicants must: Be 18-24 during 2013 Live work or attend school in the Wollongong Local Government Area What support will the program provide the Artist In Residence? Two residencies Free art studio and performance development space Professional development and mentoring Experience facilitating workshops with young people An exhibition or performance at the Youth Centre The program will provide $1,000.00 to the successful artist for materials and equipment. This will be paid in installments. An opportunity to exhibit artwork at the Youth Centre Promotion and publicity including design, flyers, media releases, media liaison, invitations, catalogues and assistance at opening event Mentoring to achieve the programs outcomes Artist in Residence responsibilities Use the studio / performance development space on a weekly basis Undertake artist talks and workshops with young people

Contribute to the skills development art workshop program of the Youth Centre Undertake a major project with young people from the Youth Centre Exhibit work created throughout the residency at the Wollongong Youth Centre Liaise with the Program committee on a regular basis Be available for any media promotion or publicity Adhere to the guidelines as specified in the contract Provide a written report / evaluation at the end of the program Undertake a Working with Children Check

How to Apply Your application must include the following: A completed application form (see attached) you should attempt to answer every questions: A current CV highlighting qualifications and experience, exhibitions/ Performances and other achievements. Portfolio of works (portfolio is up to 10 images of your current art (PDF files on a CD is preferred)- for Visual Artists, or up to 10 examples of music, writing, performance art on CD or DVD)

Applications are due on the 26th April 2013. Applicants will be notified in May 2013. Without request material will be held for 3 months and then disposed of.
