Layne 2 FUTURE SKYSCRAPERS: ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY Different uses of Architecture in Future Skyscrapers: Annotated Bibliography Humans want to keep trying to build bigger and bigger structures. These structures are very tall and need to be designed in a way that they will not collapse or have problems, yet they will be visually appealing. To do this the architecture of each building will have to be precise, accurate, and pleasing. In order to keep building taller and taller new tactics will have to be invented so that they buildings will be structurally sound. My research focuses on these future buildings and what architecture skills will be used, and what new tactics are implemented. Aminmansour, A., & Moon, K. (2010). Integrated Design and Construction of Tall Buildings. Journal Of Architectural Engineering. Retrieved March 3, 2013 In this journal of architectural engineering it discuses tall buildings and what makes them so unique. It talks about the structural integrity, building aesthetics, environmental systems, and sustainable design. Using these concepts for the buildings will help it become successful. This journal is helpful because it gives good architecture styles for tall buildings, and I could look back at it in later years and see if these concepts are the same. Jones, J. (2011). World's Tallest Building Must Be More Than Tall. Civil Engineering (American Society Of Civil Engineers). Retrieved March 3, 2013 The article discuses the plans for the new Kingdom Tower in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. It has not yet been built but it has been proposed and planned. The Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill architect firms will be working on the Kingdom Tower. The tower has to have a very strong structure so it will be able to reach 3,280 feet. This article is helpful because I will be able to look back at it when the Kingdom Tower is actually built and see what has changed from the original plan.

This article discuses many different buildings and skyscrapers. The structures have not been built yet but they have been proposed. They have many different buildings with sketches and digital pictures of them. It also talks about the architecture and certain traits each building would have. This could be helpful now to look at different architecture types, and it could be used later to see if these buildings are ever built. Reid, R. L. (2010). Chinese Tower Will Feature 117 Levels Topped by a 'Diamond'. Civil Engineering American Society Of Civil Engineers Retrieved March 3, 2013 This article is about one building in particular. The building is a tower in Tianjin, China. It will be 1,958 feet tall, and be topped by a diamond. This building is a challenge because it will be one of the tallest but it will also be one of the slenderest buildings. That is why the materials for this building are composite steel reinforced with concrete. The article also discusses the different trusses and beams that will run across the structure for good structural integrity. This article is good because it focuses on one aspect of the architecture and digs very deep into that one part. Reid, R. L. (2012). STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING: Cage like Frame Will Support Shanghai Tower's Twisting Curtain Wall. Civil Engineering. Retrieved March 3, 2013 This article focuses on one building also; the building is the Shanghai Tower in Shanghai, China. This will be a harder structure to build because it twists upwards while curving, instead of having a base that goes straight up in the air. This building has six key structural support systems that will help to keep it from collapsing. The support systems start from a smaller regular support,
