FMI In-Line system

The FMI is a patented In-Line moisture meter developed by Brookhuis Micro-Electronics in Enschede (the Netherlands) which determines the wood moisture in the production line contactfree, with a view to sorting or selecting wood. The FMI system consists of: A microprocessor driven operating unit with menu-driven software for storage of up to 1000 different product programs and a data outlet (RS232/RS485) for the registration of the measured wood with statistics using a printer or a PC. A microprocessor driven moisture sensor A reference block to check the calibration settings of the FMI system A sensor cable to connect the FMI sensors with the FMI operating unit; maximum length 25 meter A user and installation manual A measuring range of 4~30% MC A CE and FCC approval

New Automatic optimization

Improved accuracy and less influence by density thanks to new automatic optimization function.

Advantages and references

Advantages of the Brookhuis FMI systems can be found in the sensor technology used; the reproducibility is remarkably high which is the basis for accuracy. The Brookhuis Micro-Electronics products can be supplied world-wide. The products are offered via a network of selected expert resellers, agents and machine manufacturers. Brookhuis supplied over 800 FMI systems worldwide.

FMI Console
The FMI system has build-in relays for moisture content too dry and moisture content too wet. As an option the FMI system can be extended to 4 or 5 level sorting. These relays can be connected to an automated sorting line, but markers can also be connected to mark the wood. The FMI system also has an alarm output which will be triggered when the number of pieces outside the set limits compared to the total number of pieces measured. A watch-dog relay checks the status of the FMI system. The FMI measurements can be reported on a printer or on a computer by using the RS242, RS485 or Ethernet interface.

FMI Reporting
A statistical report of the measurements including the settings of the chosen product program can be printed on a printer connected to the serial interface of the FMI control unit. The statistical report can be switched over into a single board report which includes also the date, time and the result of every single piece measured.

FMI RCD: Operating and Reporting

FMI RCD is a Remote Controlled Database software package that operates the FMI system by using so-called customer-, supplier-, product- and owner databases. Every single measurement is stored on the PC and includes date, time and result. Extensive reports can be made by using programs such as Microsoft Access. FMI RCD is analysing the measurements into 3 (too dry, OK, too wet) or 4 (too dry, OK, too wet and very wet) moisture content ranges. The computer with FMI RCD Software is connected to the FMI III system via a serial interface or Ethernet connection.

FMI Report III: Reporting and SQL Database Storage

FMI Report III is the new Windows software to automatically generate moisture data reports. Report generator With every product change or counter reset a full report with ALL boards, OK boards, too DRY boards and too WET boards is generated. The reports are automatically stored locally or on a network drive. The FMI Report III software also enables to follow the production of the moisture meter real time at the (network) computer . SQL data logging Besides the reports FMI Report III can be linked to a local or remote SQL database. With this link all the moisture content data per board such as minimum, maximum and average including date and time are automatically stored. The data offers a variety of possibilities, for example to compare suppliers or optimize dry kilns, etc.
