The FMI is a patented In-Line moisture meter developed by Brookhuis Micro-Electronics in Enschede (the Netherlands) which determines the wood moisture in the production line contactfree, with a view to sorting or selecting wood. The FMI system consists of: A microprocessor driven operating unit with menu-driven software for storage of up to 1000 different product programs and a data outlet (RS232/RS485) for the registration of the measured wood with statistics using a printer or a PC. A microprocessor driven moisture sensor A reference block to check the calibration settings of the FMI system A sensor cable to connect the FMI sensors with the FMI operating unit; maximum length 25 meter A user and installation manual A measuring range of 4~30% MC A CE and FCC approval

The FMI system has build-in relays for moisture content too dry and moisture content too wet. As an option the FMI system can be extended to 4 or 5 level sorting. These relays can be connected to an automated sorting line, but markers can also be connected to mark the wood. The FMI system also has an alarm output which will be triggered when the number of pieces outside the set limits compared to the total number of pieces measured. A watch-dog relay checks the status of the FMI system. The FMI measurements can be reported on a printer or on a computer by using the RS242, RS485 or Ethernet interface.

FMI Reporting
A statistical report of the measurements including the settings of the chosen product program can be printed on a printer connected to the serial interface of the FMI control unit. The statistical report can be switched over into a single board report which includes also the date, time and the result of every single piece measured.
