AUDITION FAQ
1. Why should I audition? For an opportunity to i) participate in the Master Classes conducted by the members from the world renowned West Eastern Divan Orchestra and ii) perform at the Music for All concert on 1st Jan 2014. 2. What if I auditioned but do not get selected to perform? If you are not selected, you will still be able to participate in the Master Classes as an observer. 3. What is the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra? Google them or go to http://www.west-eastern-divan.org/ for more information. 4. How do I schedule an audition? Email us your music CV and the audition form (musicforallpg@gmail.com). We will contact you to arrange a time for the audition. 5. Who are we looking for? If you are an enthusiastic and committed classical musician, then we want you. You must have some musical talent as well. (Minimum Grade 3 ABRSM or equivalent) 6. What is the commitment required? Rehearsals will be on a monthly basis. We require our performers to be present for all rehearsals and to be prepared ie. learn all the notes.

The Master Classes will be conducted at the end of December and the concert on 1st Jan 2014. You will need to make sure you do not have any other commitments during that last two weeks of December. 7. What will I be required to play for the Auditions? i) 2-3 minute solo piece of your choice. Prepare something that you are comfortable with and that you feel is most representative of your musical abilities. ii) Sight reading: There will also be a test of sight-reading ability. 8. I am a foreigner living in Malaysia. Can I participate in the audition? Yes. We welcome anyone to audition. 9. If I live outside of Penang, will I be reimbursed for costs associated with the audition? No. 10. When should I arrive for my audition? Plan to arrive at least 20 minutes before your audition. Please plan ahead for traffic or weather related travel issues. 11. Should I memorise the music for the audition? You are welcome to memorise your music but it is not required. 12. When will I be notified about my audition result? We will notify you of your results shortly after the audition. 13. If I am chosen, how many pieces will I be required to play at the New Years Day Concert on 1st Jan 2014? Between 3 to 6 pieces. You will be accompanying Jorge Jimenez, a Mexican tenor, who will perform a medley of popular Arias and Broadway melodies. 14. Where are the rehearsals held? You will be notified at a later stage but all rehearsals will be held in Penang.
