DESCRIPTION
Cola®Teric BE-16 is a high quality betaine from Palm Oil (C 16), and is manufactured by
an exclusive process that produces an almost colorless liquid that contains NO
ALCOHOL. Cola®Teric BE-16 is very low in odor and will not add unwanted color to a
formulation. Cola®Teric BE-16 is a very mild surfactant with an inherently low eye and
skin irritation. This product is non-toxic in oral toxicity tests at 50g/kg. Cola®Teric BE-16
also has the ability to reduce the irritation of other surfactants in personal care
formulations.

This product does not produce high foam or increase the foam height of other
surfactants. Designed to be used in combination with high foaming surfactants such as
sodium lauryl sulfate, the density and stability of the foam produced is greatly enhanced.
The ability of Cola®Teric BE-16 to produce dense foam makes it an excellent choice for
shaving cream, mousse, and other dense rich foam formulations.

Viscosity of formulations can be significantly increased by combining Cola®Teric BE-16

with anionic surfactants. It is suggested that ratios of 1 part Cola®Teric BE-16 to 2 parts
anionic be used at 10% - 30% active concentrations in formulations to achieve maximum
foam and viscosity. As compared to a cocamidopropyl betaine, Cola®Teric BE-16 will
produce much higher viscosity.

Cola®Teric BE-16 is best used because of the excellent after-feel it imparts to the skin.
This after-feel results in an extremely unique feeling to the skin; very smooth with slight
slip but not greasy.

In shampoo formulations, Cola®Teric BE-16 produces conditioning and imparts softness

to the hair. When tested with cationic polymers, it was found that a combination of
Cola®Teric BE-16 with a cationic polymer produces better conditioning as compared to
Cola®Teric BE-16 or a cationic polymer used individually. Use in hair care can be at
any pH range. This product is very substantial to hair and skin.
