The Brief

Quoting from the brief: Tone of Voice: Clear, Concise, Professional, Cutting Edge, Contemporary and We would like the history and character of the space to be used as direction for the concept of the graphics. I combined the two different aesthetics to create a minimal and textured outcome.

The Concept
The photographs below is the event space at Canal Mills. These photographs are direct inspiration for my designs, createing a grainy aesthetic for the event branding. Paper Marbling is used as a visual way to show the merging of Fashion Design and Fashion Innovation. Water represents the Mills nearby Canal. This imagery will be printed on textured stock adding to the rough feeling of the Mill. Throughout all the designs lines are used as a reference to Canal Mills and its history within the cotton trade industry. The reoccurring tilted squares links directly to the Mills ceilings (see photograph below, bottom right). In opposition to this rough and image driven style, the typography is simple and concise.

Print Processes
For some of the double sided designs: The Lanyard Pass, Sponsor Invites and some fliers, the marble patterning printed on Textured Antique White Stock and the type side printed on White Matt Card are duplexed. All designs could be digital or Litho printed, depending on the print run.

Typefaces
Combining Didot (a serif typeface that is often used in Fashion Industry) with Neutraface (a modern Sans Serif) adds a contemporary twist whilst still remaining minimalistic. Didot is used for titles and headers. Neutraface is primarily used for body copy.
