Background
Reel is a fictional film festival, proposed to celebrate the diversity of film. Across one week, a multitude of films, talks and events will be showcased. I have proposed an identity and brand design, promotional material and further print collateral for the event itself.

Identity
The wordmark was based upon an existing identity I devised but altered to connote a more contemporary aesthetic. It is loosely inspired by the two meanings / sayings of Reel Reel and Real; communicated through the rotation of the second e. Metric is used within the logo and headers and the copy is set in Karla a stripped back, geometric sans-serif typeface. Any call to actions or important detailing will be outlined in a stroke to differentiate it from other content.

Iconography
The film festival is based on showcasing the diversity of film I therefore devised a set of 14 icons, each of which representing an encompassing genre. The iconography is set in one stroke width in order to match the aesthetic of the brand.

Visitor pack
Upon arriving at the event, visitors would receive a yellow tote bag with an applied icon design. These packs would contain the event programme outlining the schedule of the event and other print collateral including postcards, flyers, stickers and posters.

Programme
As the festival is ultimately centered on the 14 genres, I tried to ensure the promotional material, including the programme, reflected this. The publicaition is categorised by each genre, outlining two films for each one widely regarded as a classic and a contemporary interpretation of the genre.

Brand material
The identity was subsequently applied to a range of brand and promotional material ensuring the iconography became the dominant use of imagery as opposed to the films themselves. This included flyers, letterheads, posters, prints, stickers and press passes.

Tickets
The tickets were inspired by the name of the festival Reel. I wanted to create an engaging and inviting product design the user simply pulls the ticket out from the reel itself and a perforation allows the event holders to keep the ticket and the visitor to keep the container.

App / Site
The app / mobile site is a continuation of the publication with the films categorised by a particular genre. Users can select (press) an icon / genre and 2 films will drop down allowing the user to view more information a film summary, trailer, cast, crew along with the showing time at the festival.
