Background
As me and Luke OBrien are setting up a collaborative studio practice after university, we decided to pitch for all opportunities available through the college one of which being the end of year show. Fortunately we won the pitch with the concept, THIS IS NOT THE END our educational career is a transition into industry; something which we inteded to reflect through our concept. Although it is essentially the end of our education, it is the start of our career. We used a typographic approach to ensure differentiation between ours and the artwork from previous the striking colour was chosen to reinforce the bold statement.

Invite
With the invitation, we wanted something that would engage, excite and intrigue. The scratch-off aesthetic ultimately formed the basis of the entire concept having the statement revealed to be THIS IS NOT THE END as opposed to THIS IS THE END. The recipient will receive a scratch off token to allow them to reveal the statement.

Fold-out poster
For the fold-out A2 poster, we aimed to effectively translate the reveal concept. Upon first receiving the poster, the first word the recipient sees is END once folded out, this then reveals the full statement along with additional info on the reverse and the other statement "THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING.

Exterior artwork
Although the scratch off / reveal concept would not necessarily work on the exterior signage, we decided to use the two prominent statements that underpins our concept THIS IS NOT THE END and THIS IS JUST THE BEGINNING. These were applied to the LCA foley and ad pillar posters.

Print adverts
Alongside the printed promotional material, we were also required to devise a set of print adverts for Creative Review, Computer Arts and a Wetherby race card. We used the same design aesthetic to ensure consistency throughout all the collateral.

Web adverts
The print ads also had to translate effectively to the web we were asked to design the web graphics for the Leeds College of Art website, including a moving image gif, Facebook and Twitter graphics for LCA social media and ads for Frieze, Computer Arts and Creative Review.

Signage
The scratch off concept was also extended to the interior signage. Using the same type treatment, the wayfinding is composed in a similar way to the other promotional material. The grey box is used to emulate the scratch off concept the signage for the course areas, for example, are divided by each floor and the ones that are not relevant are scratched off.

Exhibition map
Although currently in the development, we intend for the exhibition map (fold out) to be encompassed with a rubber band that hides the word not once this is removed, the full statement is shown.
