Please bring a snack to share we will provide refreshing lemonade. Come as many Sundays as you are able. We will be swapping our best stories, lifting each other up and hearing a word to carry us through our week.

How is it with your soul?

a message from our pastor... Dear Friends, I am so trying to get caught up. I was on

vacation and then returned to Salina only to leave for Annual Conference in Hutchinson two hours later. To make matters worse, I was in an auto accident while on my trip back to Ohio. No injuries just an injured bumper. Yet one simple bumper now demands my attention as I call insurance companies and get estimates for repair. What a way to begin the summer season. Now I sit in Annual Conference trying to get my newsletter communications finished. While it seems very rushed, that is not what I am feeling at this moment. Instead, I am listening to reports at Annual Conference and I am so calm, so rooted, and so happy! Do you know how much ministry is going on in this state? Do you know how many people in our Kansas West Conference are called to do ministry? I am not simply speaking of being a pastor I am hearing lay people and clergy who are passionate about answering Gods call. These people are transforming the world. Words cannot express my feelings of awe and amazement of God working in and through Gods people. This summer We are stories but to the word with them? I am sure been. But Gods call and me on we will worship each Sunday morning, and I want you to be there. going to hear the word of God. Specifically, we will be hearing the of Gods prophet, Elijah. I want us to hear not just stories of Elijah, hear our story that God has for us. We are Gods prophets! What is that God wants us to take out to the people of the world and share that your summer days and weeks will be busy, just as mine have take the time to be here on Sunday mornings and hear, really hear, and Gods word for your life. Join together in worship, and join Phil Sunday evenings. Know that we are, all of us, Gods people, and that God is transforming this world through us. I wish you peace,

Pastor Emily

Gods prophet, Elijah...HE is the fORCE. HE is the FORCE of GOD. See fire fall from the sky! Taste the food that never runs out! Rest and refresh! Read the Word! 6/2--1 Kings 18:20-39 6/9--1 Kings 17:8-6, 17-24 6/16--1 Kings 21:1-10 (11-14) 15-21a 6/23--1 Kings 19:1-4 (5-7) 8-15 (Baptism of Collin Childs) 6/30--2 Kings 2:1-2, 6-14 7/7--2 Kings 5:1-14 Be prepared to be amazed!

Join in the fun, join in the story, join in the challenge. Hear the Word of the Lord... And all of Gods people said, AMEN.

Food Stand at the Fair

byKimVanNortwick

The Fair is quickly approaching. You will be getting calls to volunteer to work shifts for the counter help, kitchen help, fry station and also for pie cutters. The new stand will be a lot more comfortable to work in. Please help us make this year go smoothly by volunteering. Carol Monsanto has started the pie lists for this year. There is a sign-up list at the church and one will be passed to the circles. She is also in search of pie bakers! If you are interested in doing this, let her know at hmonsanto@nckcn.com or you may call her at 527-5703. The Overall Chair Committee consists of Lynn and Kim VanNortwick, Allen and Marcy Johnson-with the third spot to be filled soon. This will be a three year rotating position with Lynn and Kim going off after this year.

The Stand is coming along nicely. We are heading into the final stretch. We are looking for a good electric stove and also refrigerators, if you have one that you would like to donate, please contact one of the committee members. The kitchens are being finished as well as the counters. The grill is being cleaned to be installed in the fry station. Pledges made were $13,575.00 and $12,360.75 of those have been collected. Some of the people pledging have paid more than their original amounts pledged, which were greatly appreciated! Total gifts given including pledges so far is $31,538.50. The more gifts and pledges received, the quicker we can pay back the $30,000.00 loan from the Permanent Endowment. All gifts are greatly appreciated. If you haven't driven out to see the new stand, you should take the time to do so. It is really something to see. If anyone has questions, please ask one of the committee members. Food Stand Building Committee: Chair: Allen Johnson - Treasurer: Marvin Houdek - Secretary: Kim VanNortwick Other members: Kevin Johnson, Jeanette Sheets, Terry Skinner, Lynn VanNortwick

School is just now out, but you know another school year will be here before we know it. We want to make sure all the kids of Republic County Elementary have the supplies they need to do their best in school. We will be doing a STUFF THE BACKPACK Event for Everyone Serve on June 30th. Throughout the month of June, we will be collecting the needed supplies and then on Everyone Serve Sunday we will organize the supplies by class and put enough supplies in a bag for one student. Additionally, we will be doing some sprucing up around the church. Finally, if you know of anyone in need of a household or yard project to be done, please let us know. We are always willing to lend a hand no matter what other projects we may have lined up. Kelli Childs, ESS Team Leader Everyone Serve Committee, Carolyn Rauch, Jerry and Shirley Richecky

Pastor Kennedy Mukwinditza is delivering the bracelets that we made for our sister church in Zimbabwe. We are so excited to think that in a few days they will receive them and they will brighten their wrists and souls. Please pray that with these bracelets they will feel a connection to us and that they will know that we are supporting them and praying for them. THANK YOU and God Bless everyone for supporting our sister church! Janet Heyka, Mission Team Leader

On May 11th, Pastor Emily, Virginia & Janet attended the Volunteers in Missions leader training at Great Bend First UMC. The training covered mission trip basics, leadership elements & informed participants of the resources available through the conference for missions.

Currently, there are 13 individuals registered to attend this summers Mission Trip to the Rosebud Reservation. Tree of Life has requested that churches COLLECT MONEY to purchase diapers & laundry detergent for those served by their Warm Welcome Center. Please bring your donations to the church...and your generosity is very appreciated!

The Fellowship Team helped host the Imagine NO Malaria Lunch after church on Sunday 4/28/13. We had a nice turn out and a beautiful day for this outdoor fun event. During May, our team helped host the Senior/All Church Breakfast on Sunday morning 5/12/13. With our Fair Food Stand's completion, the Fellowship Team plans to host a meal at the Fair Stand in July. Hopefully, we will be able to do some training for using our new facility during this time of fellowship, too. More information on the July activity later. That is all the Fellowship Team has planned at this time. Fellowship Team:! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! by Susie Arbuthnot Leader, Carol Monsanto ! Deanna White, Gina Aurand, ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
