Mosholu Monthly Newsletter

Dear Members & Friends, We are Expanding with Pride and reaching out to better serve all of our neighbors. The Center has received a major federal grant to expand our Head Start Early Childhood Education Program. This summer we will open nine additional classes at our Main Building for 3 and 4 year old children and two additional classes at our Northside Annex across the street. Also, thanks to a major capital New York State grant from Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz, and support from Community Board 8 Member Andrew Cohen, we have entered into a long term lease and renovation with the Van Cortlandt Jewish Center at 3880 Sedgwick Avenue. Our new Van Cortlandt Child Development Center will house three Head Start classrooms for 3 and 4 year olds. Head Start is free for income eligible families. The Van Cortlandt site will also house three full day Universal Pre-K classrooms for 4 year olds, free from 8:30am - 2:30pm, and two private pay child care classrooms for 2 and 3 year olds from 7:30am - 6:30pm. Mosholu Day Camp on Lake Cohasset in Harriman State Park (Bear Mountain) is entering its second year after a fantastic first summer. We have also received a major capital grant from Assemblyman Dinowitz as we continue to expand our floating dock and floor crib system at the camp. Other grants, as well, will help us expand our fitness course at camp. GRAND OPENING! YOUTH BOYS & GIRLS CLUB HOUSE IN PARKCHESTER!
