In accordance with the pertinent provisions of Republic Act (R.A.) 7722, otherwise known as the Higher Education Act of 1994, this Office hereby endorses the above undertaking organized by the International English Learners Training Institute (IELTI) for the support and participation of all concerned. The 2013 seminar-workshops will tackle the following topics: Enhancing Reading Skills and Assessment of Reading Performance; Student Discipline Management with Emphasis on How to Deal With Bullies and Victims; Campus Writing and School Paper Production; Classroom Testing and Evaluation; Teaching Poetry and Literature; Language Research Design, Implementation and Report Writing; Personality Development for School Leaders; Best Practices on Teaching Grammar, Speaking, Reading and Writing; Instructional Module Writing and Materials Development; Jazz Chant, Readers Theatre, and Other Oral Reading Performances; Instructional Leadership; and Technical Writing in the Academe. Participation of officials, employees and students from private higher education institutions (HEIs) shall be VOLUNTARY. Officials and employees of State and Local Universities and Colleges (SUCs and LUCs) who will participate in this activity should have prior approval from the President/Head of the concerned institution and are hereby reminded to observe proper use of government funds provided under the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) National Budget Circular No. 486 and Administrative Order No. 103. 1.Explain to the participants approaches, techniques, practices of reading instruction for independent and problematic readers; 2.Apply the use of technology in the reading program; 3.Inform participants of various reading assessment instrumentstheir strengths and limitations; 4.Guide participants on how to organize and manage the educational environment to promote reading growth. 1.Inform the participants about the nature of bullying in the school setting, the different forms that it takes, and its effects to both victims and perpetrators; 2.Engage the participants in a discussion of significant provisions in the Anti-Bullying Act of 2012; 3.Help guide teachers, school administrators and parents in creating school policies that fight acts of child abuse, exploitation, violence, discrimination, bullying, and other forms of bullying in school; 4.Lead participants to an understanding of the nature of bullying and appreciation of the ways in which it can be mitigated or eliminated in the school setting on an international scale. 1. Discuss issues in teaching poetry, fiction and drama; 2. Design and demonstrate various strategies in teaching poetry, fiction and drama; and, 3. Explore variety of texts and perspectives. 1. Strengthen participants knowledge of journalistic writing and broadcast journalism; 2. Enhance their skills in journalistic writing, creative writing and broadcast journalism; 3. Improve their ability to guide student-writers and editors through the stages of school paper production; and 4. Give them a chance to write their own piece and be read and edited by the masters and practicing journalists. 1. Guide participants in using jazz chants, readers theater and other reading performances in teaching stress, intonation and pronunciation 2. Improve their ability to coach students in the following competitions: jazz chant, oration, declamation, speech, choral reading and readers theater. 1.Discuss issues related to the teaching of grammar, speaking, reading and writing; 2.Present effective strategies in teaching grammar, speaking, reading and writing; 3.Guide participants in preparing valid assessment of their students grammar, speaking, reading and writing skills 1.
