Weapon Table Key Cost in gold EV- encumbrance value weapons 1-Carried at waist, on back or in hand 2-Carried on back or in hand 3+-Carried in hand RoF- Rate of Fire is how many attacks a proficient can make in a single round of Missile fire. Range Inc- Range increment determines and what penalty attacks are made at. Up to the listed range there is short no modifier. Up to twice the increment there is medium a -2 modifier. Up to 3 times the increment is long range and there is a-6 modifier to hit. Missile weapons (Bows, Slings, and Crossbows) have one more increment, Extreme; at this range weapons do damage and suffer a -10 to attack rolls. TYPE AND SIZE Blades-Blades are well balanced weapons that generally do excellent damage. Short-Short blades can be thrown but do not gain Strength modifiers to damage. They can optionally use the character dexterity as a modifier to hit but do not gain damage bonus. They can be used as offhand weapons. Light- They can optionally substitute the character dexterity as a modifier to hit but do not gain damage bonus. Characters with Dexterity as a prime can them as offhand weapons. Medium-No special rules Long-Require 2 hands to use, although bastards swords can be used in one hand with Long Sword stats Hafted- These weapons are generally good at punching through armor but less damaging than blades. Short-Can be thrown and may add strength modifier to the damage. They can be used as offhand weapons. Medium- Can be used in one hand or in 2 hands for +1 Damage Long- Require 2 hands to use Spears-These weapons are longer than other weapon in their size group, generally as long as the next larger size (a Medium spear is as long any other long weapon. Lances do double damage from charging mount and count as equivalent length spears if used on foot. Short gain +1 damage if used 2 handed Medium - gain +1 damage if used 2 handed Long gain +1 damage if used 2 handed, but can only be used 2-handed in open formations (not part of a spear wall or after initial charge). These weapons can be set to receive a charge and do double damage against large targets. Flails- All flails are dangerous to the wielder. On a roll of 1 the flail hits the user for base damage. Flails are also good at trip and disarm attacks gaining +2 Short- They can be used as offhand weapons. Medium- No special rules Long- Require 2 hands to use Bows Require 2 hands to use. Short bows have a draw weight of 30-50lbs. They can be designed to utilize a higher strength modifier these weapons are re-curved bows and are made of composite materials. o Wooden composites can achieve 50-100 draw weight, require 13 STR, inflict +1 Damage, and add 20 feet to their range. They cost 30 gp. o Bone and horn composites can achieve even higher pulls (80-120lb) require 16 STR, inflict +2 Damage, and add 40 feet to their range. They cost 60 gp. Even stronger bows (120lbs+) will require 18 STR, and inflict +3 Damage, costing 120 gp o Elfish re-curved bows can be had that add 50 feet to the range and are made of subtle laminates known only to the elves. They can add up the character strength modifier (by increasing the draw length slightly). However they are very expensensive 300gp! Long bows have a draw weight of 70-80 lbs and require a 9 STR. Long can have greater draw weight but require more strength to use properly. o With a 13 strength one can use a bow of 80-100 lbs draw weight. These bows inflict +1 Damage, and add 10feet to their range. They cost 60 gp. o With a 16 strength one can use a bow of 100-150 lbs draw weight. These bows inflict +1 Damage, and add 20 feet to their range. They cost 120 gp. o With a 18 strength one can use a bow of 100-150 lbs draw weight. These bows inflict +1 Damage, and add 30 feet to their range. They cost 240 gp. o X-bows- All crossbows require two hands to load. Unlike bows small draw weight variations have little effect on the range or damage of the bow since the span is much shorter. Hand crossbows (draw weight about 50lbs) require only one hand to fire, and be used as offhand weapons much like a pistol. Light Crossbows (draw weight about 150 lbs) are spanned by a foot hook and hand. Once loaded can be fired in one hand. Light crossbows can be made with 2 levels of bow. Allow an initial RoF of 2 but each requires one round to reload. Such a bow cost 60 gp Heavy Crossbows require mechanical advantage to load and have a draw weight around 500lbs. X-Heavy bows require elaborate mechanism to reload but have tremendous power and draw weight around 1500lbs! Slings-are simple but excellent weapons they (generally) have greater range than bows and while they require 2 hands load the bullet (or stone) is small and does not require the loading hand to be empty. Unlike bows or crossbow, slings require a windup, so there is no quick release ability (see house rule).
