Loneliness
Dear Parent/ Carer I hope you enjoyed the sunshine over half term and long may it last for the remainder of the summer term. The first reminder is to alert you to the family service this coming Sunday at 10am. All are welcome and I hope you will manage the time to come along and join in. After the school inspection, national testing, sports day and healthy week we are now in a quieter period of time when we can focus on the routine of teaching and learning without interruption. This coming week we hope to make a new teacher appointment to replace Mr Thomas and should we be successful we shall be able to announce the decision next week. Please keep a close eye on the remaining calendar of events as there are some key dates. Next week we hope that the school photographer will be here to take class groups. There will also be a centenary school photograph taken providing that we can guarantee a minimum of 30 orders. If you have not completed a form to secure your order, please complete the slip attached with this newsletter. So far we have 16 orders.

Well done and a huge thank you to all the children that represented the school at the Exmouth Schools Concert in Manor Gardens as part of the Exmouth Festival the Thursday before half term. We had Guitars and Recorders rocking with the choir and got the biggest cheer of the night for our Twist and Shout v 1Direction mash up!!

Well done to our String Group who went to the recording studio with Paul Moger-Taylor to record an original composition by Liam Whiteman. Look out for the recording on our website soon!

St Peter's Writing Showcase!! http://stpeterswritingshowcase.primaryblogger.co.uk/ Here you can read and comment on writing from our children. Just read the welcome page for instructions. All comments are subject to moderation before they appear on the site. If your child is showcased they will bring home some 'business cards' which can be shared with family and friends so they can visit and comment on their writing. Each week in the newsletter we will list the names of the children featured in the Writing showcase. Writing is chosen where children have made a real effort to produce their best writing and we aim to show a wide range of writing genres from each year group. There are also folders of specific writing projects - Check out our 80 word stories from World book day by Y3 and Y5 in the 80 word stories folder. The writing showcase is also available via our school website http://www.st-petersschool.org.uk/ and clicking on children zone. Writing showcase is the fourth tab along. Also tweeted from @BudleighStP. Showcased this week are the following children: Y3: Lily Barnsley, Katie Hartnell Y2: Poppy Vaughan, Oliver Cassidy, Jack Barnham-Tetlow, Robin Squire, Peter Covell,

Multi Skills I love Multi Skills Club with Year 1 and Year 2 pupils! I had planned to end Multi Skills on Friday 24th May, but the pupils have convinced me that this club needs to carry on! However, I do need a short break! I am happy to continue this club after my Paternity leave and then up to the end of the academic year. Whilst the actual dates of my Paternity leave are unknown, the due date is Friday 14th June and so I expect to run Multi Skills for the last few weeks in July. Mr Lee Otterton C of E Primary School 6 a side Football Tournament on Saturday 15th June Parental Assistance Required Otterton C of E Primary after school football club, with the support of Exeter City Football in the Community and Otterton Senior Football Club, are organising a Under 11 (Year 6 or Year 5) and Under 8 (Year 3)football tournament on Saturday June 15th 2013 at Otterton Football Field (Stantaway). The Under 11 (Year 6 or Year 5) competition will be based upon 6-a-side (from a squad of 10) and will be run in leagues with a semi-final and final. We intend to enter two

mixed Year 5/6 teams to give the maximum number of pupils the opportunity to represent St Peter's Church of England Primary School. The Under 8 (Year 3) competition will be based upon 6-a-side (from a squad of 10) and will be run as a round robin. Registration by will take place at 10:00am and matches will commence at 10:30am. The finish time will depend on the number of teams who enter, but you should assume that the competition will last the whole day. The entry fee is 1.50 per player. Unfortunately, there is a high chance that I will be on paternity leave on this date (due date 14th June). Whilst I am happy to attend if our baby has not been born by this date, planning for this event must be based on the assumption that I cannot attend. Therefore, on this occasion, we would like parents to supervise their children at the event and for two parents to lead each team (including making substitutions). Please let me know as soon as possible if you are willing to lead one of the teams. I have been verbally advised that two parents are willing to lead the Under 8's (Year 3) team and so I will be sending a letter to Year 3 shortly. It would be fantastic if Year 5 and Year 6 could also represent St Peter's Church of England Primary School at this event. Please let me know if you are able to support Year 5 or Year 6. National Mini Tennis Week - come and try LTA Mini Tennis for free! Tennis is fun, great for fitness and can be played by all ages and all abilities. LTA Mini Tennis uses smaller courts, nets, rackets and lower bouncing balls to given children the perfect introduction to the game of tennis The Cranford Sports Club on Salterton Road are hosting a FREE National Mini Tennis Week event for children aged 5-10 on Tuesday 11th June from 16:00 to 17:30. Please phone 01395 265771 for further details.

Quad Kids Athletics Congratulation to our Year 5/Year 6 Quad Kids Athletics Team who came 3rd at the East Devon Finals. Six schools represented the different parts of East Devon and the standard of competition was very high. The team (Harry Phillips, Ieuan Brockway, Lukas White, Theo Burne, Jake Yarwood, Molly Bell, Bethany Page, Tess Gebbie and Lorna Gebbie) competed in four events: 75 metre sprint, 600m run, standing long jump and vortex throw.

Whilst our pupils took part in events individually, their scores in each event were aggregated into an overall team score. Individual performances of note included: Lukas White who was the 3rd best boy athlete overall when the scores from all four events were added together. Jake Yarwood who was the 3rd best boy overall at the vortex throw event. Theo Burne who was the 3rd best boy overall at the standing long jump. Tess Gebbie who was the 2nd fastest girl overall at the 600m run. Bethany Page who was the 4th fastest girl overall at the 75 metre sprint.

SPSA News Thank you so much to everyone who donated cakes and came to support us on the day of the Gala Fete. We had loads of positive feedback for our new image and stalls. It is great to take part in Community events, and we dont usually expect to make much money, however this year with expenses taken out we made over 300, so fantastic all round! If you have any cake tins to collect we will leave them in the music room, near the sink, but could you please try to collect them by the end of the week. Many Thanks. The joint disco with Drakes and Otterton was a nice opportunity to build some links and friendships with our neighbouring Schools. We look forward to another joint venture in the future. We now turn to our next event: THE SUMMER FETE 6th JULY 12-3 There will obviously be more information over the coming weeks, but for now can we please ask you to save toys and books for our 2nd hand stall. Any plants for the plant stall. Please add the mufti day to your diary Friday 21st June to gather tombola and raffle items. If you are able to offer help on the day, in the form of face painting, running a stall or even taking charge of the new Beer Tent please do let a member of the SPSA know. Or email mrsharry3@yahoo.co.uk Our next meeting is tomorrow 6th June 8pm in the staff room, as always new members are most welcome. The meeting will be finished by 9:30pm and any business left to discuss will be done via email, or held over to the next meeting.
