So the churches were strengthened in the faith, and they increased in numbers daily. Acts 16:5

News and Prayer Letter June 2013

Finally Settled It took 3 weeks longer than we expected, more negotiation, lots of prayer, and God working out the details, but we were finally able to close on the house. City living is great, except when you have to deal with the codes and regulations! Through it all we learned so much about ourselves and God. It reminded us that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is what the people of Pittsburgh need. It was a perfect opportunity to live the Gospel as we were continually reminded of the sinfulness of man, the need for mercy, love and grace, and the promises that come as a result of the New Covenant. To read more about what God has been teaching us through this move visit our blog. Our neighborhood As we determined our target area, we did some demographic studies to get an idea about the various neighborhoods. We noticed as we spent some time in the neighborhoods that it didnt always seem that the statistics matched what we saw. We are discovering even more that this is the case here in Brookline. It appears to be more ethnically diverse than the numbers seem to indicate. In fact, we have met people groups that we had no idea lived in this area. Just last week, Val met a woman from Saudi Arabia. In fact, there are groups of Muslim women (wearing full burqas) that come to the park across the street with their children almost daily. Dennis was at the Laundromat and there was also a Hispanic man there. After several attempts to find out how much money to put in the dryer, Dennis gave up asking. There will definitely be language barriers that God will need to overcome to reach some of these people groups. Pray for open doors, boldness, and the means to share the Gospel with these people. Support God continues to provide for us. We are currently just under 30% support. We are so thankful for the churches that have decided to support us financially. With half of the year in the past, we are excited to see how God will continue to bring in support. We are praying hard to be fully supported by the end of this year. Sound impossible? From a human perspective, it probably is, but with God it is certainly possible. We have 2 meetings this month and both are in Western PA. This doesnt mean we wont be travelling. We will be travelling to Toledo, OH to attend the School of Church Planting hosted by Baptist Mid-Missions. Pray for us as we attend and pray for our girls as they stay with Grandpa and Grandma (maybe you should pray for Grandpa and Grandma instead). Team members Pete is coming out next week for a 2nd interview for a job. Please pray for this as they move out here in 3 weeks! God has answered their prayer for housing. Someone has offered them a place to live rent free while they make the transition! Gods provision never ceases to amaze us. Also, pray that God would direct others to partner with us for both this church plant and future plants. Thank you for your prayer and support, The Rews
