Session 2012-13 Class IV Dear Parent, As the summer holidays are approaching, its time to beat the scorching heat and experience the fun filled learning and enjoying with your children through various fully occupied activities. Children should be encouraged to do all the activities with interest and fun and not simply completing the task. Parents should encourage their ward to read books & inculcate the habit of reading in their leisure time as books are our true and life time friends. This holiday homework is compulsory as it will be assessed under Formative Assessment. Buy one English & Hindi writing book & do one page daily to improve your hand writing. Learn tables from 2 to 20. Put all your Assignment sheets in a well decorated folder.
1. Collect different types of shapes like empty cans, matchboxes, tetra packs, straws, caps and ice cream cones. Make different structures like building, room , pillar ,train and car.

2. Make a poster / banner showing how to take care of teeth & write a jingle next to it. 3. Get some information on the plants and animal found in a rainforest. Find out the names of 5 artificial satellites. The year they were launched and their main function. Present it in a tabular form. Collect their picture from the internet & paste them around the table. 5. Divide a rectangle into 4 equal different parts in five different ways. 6. Design a logo/symbol for your school sports meet using geometrical shapes. 7. Search the names & approximate length of at least ten rivers of India. Arrange them in ascending order and write the length in words. 8. Summer time is best for cool drinks. So , write a receipe of any home made refreshing cool drink and enjoy drinking the same. 9. Reading enhances the vocabulary and communication skills. It enriches our mind and interest. Read the story PINPCCHIO or Aladin & his magic lamp and prepare an interesting booklet comprising of a. The colourful & creative cover page. b. Draw the main character of the story c. Draw your favorite scene from the story. Write why it is your favorite scene. 10.How will you feel if you are asked to give your favorite book or a toy or your favorite dress to a poor child. Write your views. Pyramid challenge
