pril 25-29, 2006 the International Center for Spiritual Renewal facilitated and hosted the Azusa Street Centennial. This one hundred year anniversary celebration of the Azusa Street revival was attended by over 50,000 people from 106 different nations. The streams of Spirit-filled Christianity converged in Los Angeles to rejoice in a century of blessing on this movement that now numbers over 600 million people around the world. n 2008, the new Oral Roberts University Board of Trustees began work on clarifying the mission of the university for 21st century ministry. An initiative was launched by the Board of Trustees called Empowered21 and the International Center for Spiritual Renewal was asked to facilitate this process to focus on new generations and the power of the Holy Spirit. Immediately, it was discerned that the convergence of these dynamics was leading toward questions and answers that would serve the entire Spirit-filled movement. Empowered21 began to be understood as a natural kingdomwide follow-up to the Azusa Street Centennial. The Azusa Centennial reflected on what God had done for the last 100 years and Empowered21 would focus on the future of the movement.

uring 2009 and early 2010, Empowered21 held 17 unique conversation events around the world with leaders, scholars and new generation voices to ascertain their insights into the issues facing the movement in the 21st Century. Over 500 people from 54 nations and over 15 different universities were involved in the conversations. Questions like: What does it mean to be Spirit-empowered in the 21st century? and What steps can be taken to engage new generations in the Spirit-filled experience? were asked. his process revealed eight themes common to the conversation events as the top needs in the movement - in order of most commonly mentioned:
1 Need for Leadership Character leaders who are transparent, filled with integrity, authentic, real, pure, and cleansed 2 Greater Biblical Literacy knowledge of the Bible and an understanding of the purpose of the Holy Spirit, gifts of the Spirit, Spirit Baptism, etc. 3 4 5 6 7 8 Need for Spiritual Fathers and Mothers role models and intergenerational unity to be called for globally Resources those harvest fields that seem to be ripest in the 21st Century are the most in need and should be resourced accordingly Education ministerial training and higher education Contextualization leadership native to the region being served Transition of Leadership new leadership of the movement which goes beyond the influence of the USA - moving East and South Rise of Islam intense pressure is being experienced by Spiritempowered believers who are aggressive in evangelism on this frontier

onversation input and discoveries were used to inform the program of the first Empowered21: Global Congress on Holy Spirit Empowerment which was held in Tulsa, OK, April 8- 11, 2010. The Congress focused on shaping the future of the Global Spirit-empowered movement by focusing on crucial issues facing the movement and connecting generations for intergenerational blessing and impartation. Over 10,000 people from 95 nations attended the April Congress where over 210 learning conversations and numerous general session events informed and connected them. It became obvious that the Congress was forming a launch base for further exploration. he International Center for Spiritual Renewal was asked to solidify and expand Empowered21 following the Global Congress, and Empowered21 was transferred to the Center in the summer of 2010. As the governing and fiduciary entity, the ICFSR assigned inspirational oversight of Empowered21 to the E21 Global Council. This relationship allows the Empowered21 movement to move quickly toward its goals while retaining accountability for its vision and transparency in its finance. hree years later, at the request of the ICFSR board, stewardship of Empowered21 is returning to Oral Roberts University. The Empowered21 network now spans the entire globe and its vision includes reaching every person on Earth. Reuniting Empowered21 with ORU brings this global network alongside the scholarship and next-generation vibrancy of a premier Spirit-empowered Christian university.
15
To The World
mpowered21 is now witnessing a convergence and collaboration of Spiritempowered ministries around the world. A series of regional Empowered21 leadership teams have formed to focus on unique issues faced by Spirit-empowered churches operating within disparate socioeconomic climates. The entire network is able to benefit from best practices and growth in individual regions.
urther research within the Empowered21 network has identified five highly important trends where the Spirit-empowered Church is most likely to grow and positively influence the world. They are: 1) experience a fresh, historic outpouring of the Holy Spirit 2) increase in leadership development within Spirit-empowered churches 3) be increasingly known for meeting human needs in the community 4) see an increase in the practice of divine healing 5) be more open for newer expressions of Spirit-empowered ministry

The Generations Weekend Experience is designed to provide a replicable model for local churches to answer the new generation cry for spiritual fathers and mothers. The goal is ultimately for mentoring and spiritual parenting to take place within the church. The weekend contains a variety of presentation styles including small group discussion, teaching, music, fellowship, expert panels, individual interaction and and impartation moments. The weekend is intentional in connecting the generations. Three areas show strong growth upon completion of the Weekend: (1) Understanding of the Biblical Terminology and Process for Intergenerational Mentoring (2) Sense of Personal Well-Being and Enrichment Through Increased Intergenerational Connections (3 Desire and Intentionality for Intergenerational Relationship. Grace North Foursquare Church in Anthem, Arizona helped conduct the first Generations Weekend. Three generations were engaged; the youngest participant being 15 years old and the oldest 78. North Cleveland Church of God in Tennessee made the Experience their own. People from 12 to 82 years old exchanged stories, studied the Bible, and laughed together. A precious time of impartation came at the conclusion of the weekend as old and young washed each others hands and prayed for one another.

resolution
As representatives of the Spirit-empowered movement throughout Europe, we are committed to help shape the future of the same by focusing on the crucial issues facing the movement and connecting generations for intergenerational blessing and impartation. We the undersigned European leaders do recognize the importance and impact of the Holy Spirit during the past century, impacting virtually every segment of Christianity, the movement of Spirit-empowered churches has become the fastest growing stream of Christianity world-wide. In light of the spiritual situation in a post-Christendom Europe, we want to appeal to the current and next generation to carry this move of the Holy Spirit to a new and more dynamic level. Therefore be it resolved that we European leaders of the Spirit-empowered movement want to work together for the purpose of seeking a fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit in our time. We affirm the importance of the baptism of the Holy Spirit for the believer to become empowered and to have a fearless and relevant testimony of Jesus Christ in the 21st century. We commit ourselves to reemphasize and cultivate the manifestations of the gifts of the Holy Spirit as a vital and divine way to equip the church to face the new challenges of the postChristendom societies in Europe. We commit ourselves to embrace afresh the spiritual authority given through the Holy Spirit to the church to confront spiritual darkness which holds individuals and regions in bondage. We pledge ourselves to helping new generations to become fully empowered and impact our societies for the Kingdom of God.
Therefore we call upon the entire Spirit-empowered movement to unite together in the vision that every person in Europe and the world would have an authentic encounter with Jesus Christ through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit.

resolution
WHEREAS a major contributor to the erosion of Biblical Christianity in America has been the loss of a clear understanding of and commitment to the Biblical teachings and practices of the person, immediacy, and power of the Holy Spirit; and WHEREAS some Pentecostal and Charismatic Christian communities in America are experiencing an increase in Biblical illiteracy, a decreased desire for holiness, a lack of the fear of God, and significant moral and leadership failure; and WHEREAS a significant gap exists between the aging leadership of many Spiritempowered communities and the leadership formation and empowerment of students and young adults; and WHEREAS a separation continues to exist between scholarship on the Holy Spirit and the praxis of Spirit-empowered communities; and WHEREAS many Pentecostal and Charismatic Christian communities report a decrease in Christ-centered, Spirit-filled, mission awareness and involvement at home and abroad; now THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Empowered 21 USA gathering of scholars, Christian leaders, and next generation voices held at Regent University in Virginia Beach, VA, February 29 March 3, 2012, affirms its unmoving belief in and commitment to the Biblical teaching of the holiness, immediacy, and power of the Spirit of God and the Spirits empowerment of the Christian life and community (1 Corinthians 2:13); and
BE IT RESOLVED that we recommit ourselves to humbly seeking the fear of God (Acts 9:31) by immersing ourselves in His Holy Word (Hebrews 4:12) and cultivating the desire for a renewed holiness that His Spirit brings (Romans 1:4); and BE IT RESOLVED that we will endeavor to answer the cry of the next generation for spiritual fathers and mothers by serving them through training, guidance, and modeling a complete surrender to the work of the Holy Spirit (Habakkuk 3:2); and BE IT RESOLVED that we will seek to further our understanding and cooperation with the Spirit of God through a commitment to both scholarship and practice, recognizing that they both are empowered and guided by the same Holy Spirit (2 Timothy 2:15); and BE IT RESOLVED that we will revere and utilize Pentecost Sunday of each year for teaching and preaching on the Holy Spirit, inviting every generation to experience the Spirit; and BE IT RESOLVED that we will discern and develop a framework for Spirit-empowered discipleship, which will include age and stage outcome-based benchmarks of what a Spirit-empowered, Christ follower looks like and lives like; and BE IT RESOLVED that we will boldly obey the call of Christ to make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28: 18-20), proclaiming Gods Kingdom, Gods liberation, and Gods justice to the least of these (Matthew 25:40), while affirming that it is not by might nor by power but by Gods Spirit that Gods mission is fulfilled (Zach 4:6, Mark 16:17-18, Acts 1:8), and BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that we will unite together around the vision: That every person in the United States of America and on earth would have an authentic encounter with JESUS CHRIST through the power and presence of the Holy Spirit by Pentecost 2033. This resolution was drafted during the Converge21 USA meeting in February of 2012. First signed by attendees at the concluding Commissioning Service, it continues to be endorsed by people all over the United States at Empowered21.com .
