A NEW ALABAMA PARTNERSHIP

Pastor Lucas was like the Pied Piper as the children of Las Brisas followed him from house to house on the rocky trails of this impoverished community near the Salvadoran border. Over and over we were asked, Can you visit my house too? Pastor Lucas and the people of La Iglesia Bautista Tabernculo in Jutiapa have been going to Las Brisas for several months. For them, reaching these families with the Gospel is their Great Commission responsibility. We were there with a Vision Team from the Elmore Baptist Association, Wetumpka, Alabama, to lay the groundwork for a partnership to bring the Gospel to the people of Las Brisas and nearby communities. This missionminded association will be sending two teams for ministry before the end of the year as they initiate this partnership. We are thankful for Associational Missionaries like Dr. Jim Jackson who are leading their associations of Pastor Lucas and Jim Jackson dedi- Baptist churches to embrace the cating the partnership to the Lord. Great Commission to go to the ends of the earth. Thanks for praying for us as we work together in this new partnership to bring the Gospel to the families of Las Brisas.

Unexpected Challenges From Within

We expect challenges to come from without. Occasionally, we are blindsided by unexpected challenges from within. Such is the case in our work to bring the Gospel to the unreached village of Chanc. For almost a year, a local Christian family has hosted Pastor Rolando as he has conducted Bible studies in Chanc. Though they are not Baptists, they were gracious to let us have Bible studies on their porch and to give the pastor a place to sleep for the night. Recently, Pastor Rolando was told by the head of this family that they will no longer host the Baptist meetings. The reason: they have been led to believe by leaders of their church that Baptists do not believe in the Holy Spirit because we do not speak in tongues and have experiences like being slain in the Spirit. This is not the first time we have encountered this attitude from those Pastor Rolando Cruz & wife Ines we call our brothers in Christ. While we are grieved by this response, we are receiving it as an opportunity to relocate the Bible studies to a more neutral location as we seek to plant a church in Chanc. At this point, we do not have a location so we ask you to pray with us as we search. Pastor Rolando has traveled to this home for the Bible study for almost a year. Since he lives over an hour away from Chanc and his only method of transportation is a motorcycle or a bus, he goes on Thursday afternoon to this remote mountain village and spends the night. This family has been the core of attenders for the Bible study, so he must build a new Bible study from the start. You can imagine that he is discouraged after having invested in this work for a year. Please pray for him that he will not grow weary in well doing and that he will reap as he refuses to surrender to this disappointment. Pray for these Partnership Teams arriving on: June 29 July 13 July 27 FBC, Greenwood, AR Brainerd, Chattanooga FBC, Mt. Pleasant, SC School Teacher Workshops School Teacher Workshop Evangelism

You gave $149,276,303.72 to the 2012 Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions, making this the third largest offering in our history. Thank you for making it possible for us to serve as your IMB missionaries through your continued giving to the Cooperative Program and the Lottie Moon Offering. While financial support is vital, your prayers for us are even more important. IMB President Dr. Tom Ellif recently said, How could we dare send out these missionaries without covering them with a furnace blast of prayer?
