SAN ANTONIO The Laredo running club Fuego is catching fire after their recent performance at the Carrabas half marathon relay . Earlier in the year, Fuego ran the Beach to Bay Marathon in April placing ninth overall in the mens open division, one of the toughest divisions in the race. Early Saturday morning, Fuego competed with two teams in the half marathon relay and they both did extremely well in their second outing of the season. In the mens open division, the team of Justin Champion, Albert Cantu, Steve Espinoza and Ismael Madrigal took third and placed seventh overall. The 19-and-under team of Marcos Amador, Marlon Amador, Jose Villalobos, who all run for Martin, and Tommy Munoz placed second in the division and eighth overall.

Ginobilis struggles continue

By CLARA SANDOVAL
LAREDO MORNING TIMES

SAN ANTONIO The offensive struggles that Spurs guard Manu Ginobili has faced in the NBA Finals is well documented as he has not put up numbers like he did in Game 1. During the regular season, Ginobili averaged 11.8 points per game with a .425 field goal percentage and a .353 3-point percentage. Ginobili scored 13 points on a 4-of-11 performance in San Antonios 92-88 victory against Miami on the road to open up the Finals, but that offensive outburst has been missing for the past

three game. "I have not compared it to other years, but I am not worried about anything that has bee mentioned," San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich said. For the next three Finals games, Ginobilis offense has been missing as he averaged 5.6 points per game. The Spurs have gone 1-2 during that stretch with the only win coming on Tuesday in a 36-point victory to open the series at the AT&T Center. The lack of offense does not concern Ginobili since he has a trust in the system that Popovich has built since arriving to the Spurs organization 16

years ago. "I trust the system. I trust my teammates," Ginobili said. "I try to force a little less and find my teammates." Ginobili trusts the team concept, and while his numbers are valuable to San Antonio, he feels the Spurs have a deep bench that has been able to put up some numbers in his offensive absence. "I try to trust my game and trust the system," he said. "I did not have a super game in Game 3 and we won by 30. It is a matter of us and not me, of course the team needs me to play much better but if not I think weve got resources

to overcome anybodys bad games." Tuesday night it was Danny Green who had an offensive outburst with 27 points and Gary Neal chipped in with 24 points in San Antonios 113-77 victory to take a 2-1 lead in the series. In Thursdays game, Ginobili scored five points and only attempted five field goals in 25:52 minutes of play in the Spurs 109-93 loss. During the post game press conference, Tim Duncan said Ginobili needed to be more selfish with the ball and start looking to take more shots instead of
