Our mission!
According to the Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America, 1 in 50,000 children are born with fibular hemimelia, a rare limb deficiency where there is a co ngenital complete or partial absence of the fibula. The Limb Life Foundation is committed to educating those who diag nose, treat, and suffer from this rare limb deficiency that there are alternatives to amputation. We also strive to provide fin ancial and emotional support for those children and families that are seeking medical treatment for fibular hemimelia.

The Paley Foundation is committed to developing and teaching new techniques to save and reconstruct the limbs of children and adults and eliminating the need for amputation, whenever possible, among those who suffer from rare limb deficiencies and other complex orthopedic conditions. The Paley Foundation strives to improve the lives of children and adults who suffer from rare and challenging congenital, developmental and posttraumatic orthopedic conditions throughout the Nation and the world.

Our inspiration!
Eloise Lee was born July 5, 2012 to Chi p and Erin Lee. Erin had a normal pregnancy and no issues were detected during any ultrasounds. When Eloise was born, it was discovered that she had a rare congenital limb deficiency ca lled fibular hemimelia in both legs. Due to the fibular hemimelia , Eloise has 3 toes on each foot, both ankles are maloriented and the left leg is projected to be 4.1 cm shorter than the right. When Eloise was 5 days old she was taken to a pediatric orth opedist who recommended amputation of both legs . Unsatisfied with this prognosis, Chip and Erin saw 2 more do ctors before finding Dr. Dror Paley in West Palm Beach. There they discovered a viable option to amputation. In January 2014 , the Lee Family will move to West Palm Beach for 3-4 month s so Eloise can undergo her first set of surgeries. These surgerie s will reorient both ankles and lengthen the left leg, giving Eloise full use of both legs and feet.
