Prayer Devotional

April 2013
This devotional guide will give you a step-by-step instructional on how to conduct your prayer time with your Dgroup. Focus: Make Him Known: Depend on the Holy Spirit to Lead Us in Prayer In the same way the Spirit also helps our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we should, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words; and He who searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. - Romans 8:26-27 (NASB)

P P

RAISE (10 minutes) Praise God through singing. Sing as a group.

Spirit, Touch Your Church (Kent Henry) Holy Spirit, Rain Down (Hillsong)

Suggested songs: He Knows My Name (Maranatha Singers) Change My Heart, O God (Paul Baloche)

ONDER (15 minutes) This is a time for individual reflection.

1. Reflect on the Holy Spirits role in prayer based on the following verses: a. Romans 8:26 (The Holy Spirit helps us pray.) b. Romans 8:27 (The Holy Spirit prays for us according to Gods will.) c. 1 Corinthians 2:10-11 (The Holy Spirit knows the thoughts of God and reveals them to us.) 2. Why do you think it is important to depend on the Holy Spirit as we pray? 3. Is there anything that hinders you from letting the Holy Spirit lead you in prayer? 4. How can you let the Holy Spirit lead you in prayer?

RAY (20-30 minutes) Divide your Dgroup into groups of 2-3.

You may follow these steps:

1. Confession: If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened; Psalm 66:18 (NIV)

2. Thanksgiving: 3. Intercession:

Unconfessed sin blocks our prayer. Ask God to reveal any hidden and deliberate sins. Confess those sins individually to God and to your accountability partner/s. Confession involves turning away from our sins. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 1 John 1:9 (NIV). Pray for one another. Do not counsel. This is a time for listening and praying. Thank God for sending the Holy Spirit to help and intercede for us. a. Pray for CCF

b. Pray for the Philippines

Pray for the completion and turnover of the CCF Worship and Training Center. Pray for a smooth transfer to the new building. Pray for the preparations for GDC.

c. Pray for the Nations

Pray for righteous governance and salvation of our government officials. Pray that God uses the Philippines mightily to proclaim Christ to other nations. Pray for those who will vote on May elections that God grants them wisdom and discernment in choosing the candidates.

d. Pray that you experience the power of the Holy Spirit in your prayer life. e. Pray for the salvation and spiritual growth of family and friends.

Pray for the multiplication of thousands of house churches, satellite churches, and small groups in different nations through CCF International Church Planting. Pray for the protection of our missionaries in Nepal.

Lords Supper Guide

April 2013
The Lords Supper shall be done once a month in the Dgroup along with the monthly prayer meeting. It shall be held at the end of the prayer time.

Instructions to the Dgroup Leader:

1. Assign a member to prepare the elements: 3. Lead the short devotion below.* a. Any one whole piece of cracker or bread (preferably without yeast). b. Grape juice -- one big cup or bottle and many small cups (one for each member).

2. Announce the celebration of the Lords Supper.

4. Thank God the Father for sending His Son as a sacrifice for our sins. Break the cracker or bread and say, This reminds us of Jesus body which was broken for us. Distribute the pieces and eat. 6. Close in prayer.

Please encourage all your members to individually pray and fast once a week (fasting one meal per week will do). You can share your answered prayers on the following months prayer meeting.

5. Pour the grape juice into the cups and say, This reminds us of Jesus blood which was shed for us. Distribute the cups and drink.

*Short Devotion
1. Read 1 Corinthians 10:16-17. Ask your members to follow along with their Bibles and reflect on the passage. Emphasize on the main verse below. The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? For we, though many, are one bread and one body; for we all partake of that one bread. -1 Corinthians 10:16-17 (NKJV) 2. Explain to them the following points:

a. The communion (Greek koinonia) referred to in the Lords Supper is both a fellowship with God and with fellow believers. This is an intimate interaction among persons related to each other. c. An earthly father is not pleased with his children if they are fighting; the same with God. We dishonor the Lords Table if we partake the elements without resolving our differences with brothers and sisters in the faith. a. If you have strained relationship with any brother or sister in Christ, have you taken steps to reconcile with him / her? b. If not, what hinders you from doing so?

b. The first appearance of the word fellowship is in Acts 2:42 when the Spirit was given to the disciples. The primary ministry of the Holy Spirit was to unite separate individuals into the body of Christ. 3. Ask your members to personally reflect on these points. (2-3 minutes)

The Hands Together Program is the new church-wide prayer lifestyle of CCF. This program aims to bring the attitude of prayer into our small groups. All Dgroups are encouraged to devote their first meeting of the month to a time of prayer and commemoration of the Lords Supper.
